They made a remake of this movie and attempted to recreate the body horror effects that Rick Baker made for this movie. A lot of scenes where already shot and actually ended up to be really good until the studio ended up intervening due to time consuming stage props and makeup. Everything ended up being C.G after post production even going as far as rotoscoping the original props in scenes already shot with practical effects and replacing them with C.G. One of the worst interventions by a studio in resent movie history.
