It used to be a real prison. It’s the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio. All of the red brick buildings you see in the film have been torn down, but the beautiful main stone building is still there. They have a museum & a store, and give tours. Lots of film props, locations & memorabilia. Supposedly very haunted. I’ve done overnight ghost hunts there, and it’s creepy. There’s a newer real functional prison on a separate property directly behind it now.
