I agree! That's the take I got from it too. There are moments in the movies between Harry and Hermione that could have been romantic but it seems they never went there. Like the scene at the Yule Ball where Harry sees Hermione walk down the stairs. I never got the impression that he was thinking "damn she's hot. I'm suddenly attracted to this person". I always saw it as Harry admiring how beautiful his friend is and feeling happy for her. The dance scene could have totally been a tease but the actors play it right, just like they did at the Yule Ball. If anything, it shows how strong their friendship is.

There never really was any love triangle BS in the movie in my opinion, other than in Ron's head. The dance scene seems kind of divisive among fans, but I really like it. Its an intimate moment, but not a romantic one. Tons of people are trying to capture/kill them, they have this seemingly impossible task to destroy all these horcruxes, and on top of that Ron just left. It's great that they are able to dance for a few minutes, enjoy a song, and forget about all the horrible shit going on.

You guys should read percy jackson as well

That part is my absolute favorite stretch of 2-3 chapters in the entire series (despite Book 7 not being in the top tier for me). I think it's Rowling's best writing and character work for Harry.

If you do any more book reactions I would strongly suggest the Percy Jackson series. The movies are crap but they will be making a TV Show soon that should hopefully be better. But if you like Harry Potter then I feel like you'll enjoy Percy Jackson.

I can't wait for you guys to finish this book because Harry's hero journey this book is one of the most satisfying character developments here - by the time you read the chapter The Forest Again, you are truly a part of his journey. It's the most beautifully written chapter in the series.

As far as dudley’s development, i like to think that when the dementors attacked them in book 5 that dudley’s worst memories were of him bullying other kids (including harry) and that once he recovered from the shock of the attack, he realized that harry saved his life and saw how terrible he was. And that’s why he had that turn around. I love that he got some growth though cause he really was horrible.

Trust me when I say the second half of the book is top to bottom better than the movie especially the locket Horcrux part. There were many other contributing factors to what ultimately happens and the aftermath and resolution in the book will have you cursing the filmmakers for screwing up so badly.

I was really hoping that you would comment on the whole reveal about Kreacher and Regulus Black. I think that aspect of the story is very impactful. You have another Death Eater, like Snape, who turned against Voldemort after he impacted someone that they personally cared about, and that opened their eyes a bit to what Voldemort really was. And I loved Kreacher’s total turn around after they understood him and could react to him accordingly, which also gives clarity to the harm that Sirius’ treatment of Kreacher caused. Something I want to point out about Harry’s use of Expelliarmus is that he learned it from Snape during the Dueling Club in Chamber of Secrets. And this is truly Harry’s signature spell. Once the series is complete and you can look back upon the entire thing you can see that quite a few of the critically important magical things that Harry learned throughout the series were from Snape, whether they came directly from him or the Half-Blood Prince. I am hoping to go back and leave a few more comments about some things I thought were important throughout the series. As you get into the remaining chapters I want to point out a couple of chapters that I hope you really pay close attention to. The first is the chapter titled The Silver Doe. This chapter is one of the critical turning points in the book and it contains some of the most beautiful imagery of the entire series. There is a lot of Arthurian mythical imagery in that chapter. Another really important chapter is the one where Harry digs Dobby’s grave. Since you have seen the movie I know I’m not spoiling anything by saying that this does happen. This chapter is another very important one in terms of Harry’s critically important decisions as you approach the ending of the book. And then as you really get towards the end, The Prince’s Tale and King’s Cross are both very emotional and beautiful chapters. Is there anyway to find out in advance when you plan to hold your Harry Potter livestream? Since you only covered about the first third of the book, you might want to consider another video after the chapter where the trio visits Luna’s father. That would leave another good chunk for a third video, or your livestream. There is quite a bit of story left to fit into one stream.

Hi Guys! What did you think about Kreacher's Tale? It's one of my favorite chapters.
