Hey friends,
Hope you’re all hanging in there. This morning, after coffee with Io, I recorded an episode of the Batting Around podcast. Imagine my surprise when the episode dropped into my podcast feed two hours later?! For context, tomorrow’s Gender Reveal episode was recorded exactly a month ago. lol and lmao.
Batting Around was a blast to record, and I hope everyone else also likes it so that they’ll let me come back :) :) :) IMO there is plenty of non-baseball content to enjoy in the episode, but that might be biased in the same way as when I go “this one doesn’t even taste like coffee/cilantro/etc.” and then my gf or whoever tries it and is like “YUCK, tastes like coffee/cilantro/etc.” Did that make sense??
Anyway, if you enjoy the episode, GREAT NEWS: We’re doing a Patreon swap with Batting Around this month! Which means that you can enjoy a FREE MONTH of Batting Around’s Patreon right now! Huge, fun, amazing, etc. (Btw, if you’re here because you signed up for our Patreon via the Batting Around exchange program, you might enjoy this list of starter packs, plus the baseball-y Gender Conceal episodes with KT, AK, Sawyer, and Calvin.)
Okay, one more thing and then I’ll stop talking about baseball: immediately after I recorded the Batting Around podcast, the Mariners batted around twice against the Br*ves to win 18-2. Eighteen to two!!!! Much to consider.
Oh, but to back up: we’ve got a new Gender Reveal episode out tomorrow with Isa Noyola! Isa has spent decades organizing for trans immigrant rights, and I’m very excited for you to hear everything she shared with us. It is an important one and also… she is fun!!!
Next week, I’ll be in Minneapolis for like 48 hours, and I’m hoping to record a cute little IRL catch-up with Gender Reveal/Conceal alum Cassius Adair — so if you have any questions/discussion topics for either of us, please put them in the comments by Wednesday. (This could be something about, like, parenting or podcasting or academia or whatever, or a silly AMA question a la this Mckenzee episode.) Tysm for your help!
Also, this is your weekly reminder that you get 10% off in the Girl Dad Press shop forever with the promo code PERVERT. And I know “forever” means “no rush” but also I need to figure out rn how many copies of Sex Change and the City I’m sending to my home (to then send to you), so if you order now, that’s so sick and cool and rad. But no presh lolol.
Wait, actually, I have a question for you! What kind of book tour events do you like? Readings? Q&As? Parties? Open mics? Something else? I’d truly love to know.
Okay, that’s so much. Let’s do Links & Stuff:
I have been thinking about Alex’s RIP Podcasting article so much during the last two weeks. (You’ll hear one tiny snippet of these thoughts in tomorrow’s ad break, of all places.) I’m curious if the narrative podcasting industry collapse is at all visible to y’all as podcast consumers? Is it interesting to you, or do you just want to listen to podcast and not worry about it?
Anyway please vote for our friend Cat and her essay about the most transsexual grape
Gift link to look at this incredible, surreal, deeply unhinged house created by art students who we must assume are queer.
Thank you to the one (1) reader who cares what line dance I’m learning every week. Right now, I’m determined to learn Babygirl! Okay, moving on.
Hate to admit it but this one made me laugh a lot???
That’s it for this week. Here’s your weekly Rhubarb, featuring Puffin.

Photo: Ruby and Puffin are lying on a blanket with their back feet touching and their bodies making like a 145° angle.
They were touching!!! It was a huge deal!!!
