book news, pod updates, and a crossword cameo

Hey friends,

Hope you’re all hanging in there. Yesterday I messed up my shoulder so badly that I now can’t raise my arm above my shoulder, fresh-top-surgery-style. Then I hit a home run and went to a hot dog party and worked on the podcast. Today I worked on the podcast and then went to the beach with five Gender Reveal alumni. This has been a personal update.

In other people’s personal updates, it’s still Cancer season, which means it is still Ozzy season, so everyone please say happy birthday to Ozzy!!!!! And speaking of Ozzy: tomorrow on Gender Reveal, we’re sharing Ozzy’s conversation with Whit Washington! Whit is an attorney at the Nonbinary and Transgender Rights Project at Lambda Legal, and an abolitionist with many sharp thoughts about the terrible inequities and injustices embedded in our legal system. They’re also very fun! We’ll talk more about this episode next week, but in the meantime, hope you enjoy it :)

But wait, there’s more! A week from tomorrow, we’ll be sharing my recent chat with two-time Gender Reveal guest Mal Blum. You may have seen that Mal has a new album out called The Villain, and I’m being completely honest when I say that it slaps and I love it! (Also, it’s a breakup album and I cannot say anything about who it is about but YOU KNOW!!!) Mal and I had a very juicy fun silly honest chat for Gender Conceal, and I’m so excited for y’all to hear it. In the meantime, you can see Mal on tour!!! (Surely I’ll see some of you at their Bell House show next Sunday, yes?)

Also, maybe I’ll see you on Tuesday, July 29th, in Astoria, Queens, where I will be chatting with Mattie Lubchansky about her new book, Simplicity! And by “maybe” I mean “I am definitely coming due to having to speak on stage, but perhaps you’re also coming?” See u there!

Wait, speaking of new books, actually: Sex Change and the City is now book-shaped and is ready for blurbs! If you happen to be a successful author or mildly famous person reading this, would you like to blurb the book???? Lol and lmao but also hit me up xoxoxoxoxo love u.
