Sawyer Kemp! Zohran Mamdani! Mckenzee is here!

Hope you’re all hanging in there. I just got back from Dyke March, where I chaotically introduced Ozzy to Mckenzee in the middle of an intersection :) and now Mckenzee is reading Niko’s book on my couch :)

This week on Gender Conceal, I chatted with my friend (and queer fantasy baseball commissioner) Sawyer Kemp. We mostly talked about Shakespeare and Twelfth Night and gendersome theater, but we also talk a bit at the end about baseball, gay baseball, Shakespeare baseball, etc. Sawyer also tells a story about intra-community trans conflict in the 1600s, if you can believe it! We have always been here and we’ve always been annoying, happy pride :) :) :)

In other news…. HOT MAYOR! HOT MAYOR! HOT MAYOR!

Of course, Zohran is not even officially the mayor yet — the general election is in November — and if/when he is the mayor, he will absolutely be disappointing at some point! It’s going to be so annoying when we have to be mad at him! but isn’t it fun to have something good happen and yell hot mayor about it??????? I mean, look at this tabloid headline.

• Speaking of mayors, I cannot believe Lori Lightfoot is a real person and not a video game NPC or a running bit in a surrealist comedy show.

• Horrifying immigration raids continue in LA and around the country. CalMatters spoke with several men who had been abducted, and Jaya explained what restaurant owners and workers can do to protect from from future raids.

• As someone who regularly has a little breakdown about health insurance coverage, this one really resonated with me.

• The 19th reports that there are still technically ways to fight trans healthcare bans in court.

• I’ve never seen Publisher’s Weekly go this hard before and honestly I’m thrilled.
