I am actually a member of TimotheeReacts Patreon as well... it was fun seeing you two react together. I highly recommend another of Edward Zwick's movies... Glory. If you haven't already seen it of course.

Here's a random fun fact. Doesn't have anything much to do with the movie, but this comment reminded me of it. The individual little plates of samurai armor is strung together with a complex braided cord called "Kumihimo". It made with normal silk embroidery thread but when woven together takes on properties that make it both extremely difficult to break and also stretchy like a bungy cord. I made some once and forgot about it and left it in the trunk of my car. Later that year, my car slid on some ice and went partway into a ditch. Another car stopped to help but neither of us hand towing cables. We tied the kumihimo to the bumpers of each car and were successfully able to tow my entire car out of the ditch with two millimeter thick braided cord....

Nice collaboration , and on one of my favorite movies no less what a treat. This movie is near and dear to my heart because I’m very much in love with Japanese culture. Although it’s a fictional story based on some historical figures. It oozes with culture and Bushido spirit. The film maker got so many things right little details you might not notice as a layman. Little fact: you see Nathan get dressed before he strapped on the armor. The white kimono or yukata. He wears is Japanese funeral clothes. Samurai actually wore that when going into battle, signifying there commitment to facing death.

Love this movie, I actually totally forgot about it until seeing it pop up here lol. Definitely do more collabs, especially if it brings us new movies that Thor/Ninetail aren't particularly interested in watching.

The Last Samurai is a nice blend of history and fiction that fits the story so well . It is known that in Feudal Japan that they wanted to erase their traditions to adapt to the ever changing industrial times even down to their tales they used to tell . But i don't believe they actually slaughtered samurai to get that point across .
