Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire pt. 2 (early access)

Comments

"Harry Potter has to go into the lake and find his Wheezy—" "Find my ?" "—and take his Wheezy back from the merpeople!" "What's a Wheezy?" "Your Wheezy, sir, your Wheezy " 😭 Oh my heart! Best Dobby part, RIP

Sandra

4th is worst in terms of plot, 6th is worst overall because it feels like you're watching two different movies that missed the core of the book entirely. As much as I think GOF is terrible I still feel like the core aspect of the tournament is intact even though I would have liked it to stay closer to the book, HBP just feels like they were trying to compete with twilight because teenage romance dominates the movie

Josh Z

personally I feel like this one is the worst book to movie adaptation. the things they leave out completely change the plot and mystery of the whole book. The 6th one is a close runner up, they leave SO much out but I think the plot is a little more in-tact than in this one. I’m curious to see what y’all think tho :))

Love hearing your thoughts as always 😊.

Ok. Will remember that one!!

Hey James, one scene in this book that has a huge pay off and you should definitely hold in your memory, is when Dumbledore is questioning Barty Jr about how Voldemort returned and Harry notices a brief look of triumph cross Dumbledores face. Very important! :)

Trav Gorin

Yeah I'd like to see how they feel about how many memories about voldemort were cut out. Also, the whole Burrow scene.

Sean Silence

“This might be the worst book to movie in the series”- James… uh oh should we tell him about book 6 lol. Once you read book 6 you’ll learn to hate the 6th movie.

Zach Winters

You are going to love OotP! SO much was cut out in the film😕

I wouldn't say that it was completely butchered, the next book on the other hand was completely butchered by the movie.

Josh Z

The fifth book, Order of the Phoenix, was butchered in the movie... I mean, it's the longest book, but the shortest movie, so imagine... Order of the Phoenix is the best book imo!

H. Maurier

The first task could have been worse in the movie believe it or not. The director wanted to burn down the Forbidden Forest, The producers literally had to remind him that they would still be using that location 😂

So about the discussion about Barty Crouch Sr, the funny thing is - he is right about his son, who he actually gave a trial to. The person he did wrong by is Sirius - who was thrown in Azkaban without a trial by Sr. That's where the criticism of his methods come from. Curious you guys didn't mention Sirius that much (given that Harry finally gets an adult who loves him so much that he would starve and eat rats to be near him) - since he was a stronger presence in this book vs movie where he just appears in one scene. But yeah, as books get longer - there are so many topics to discuss and not enough time to talk about them all XD Also, Barty Crouch Jr using Cruciatus curse in class in front of Neville, whose parents he had tortured along with Bellatrix and group, gives the scene more horrifying layer. Plus Harry's bravery in the graveyard feel so much stronger because we are inside his head and we know his thoughts - that he wanted to die "upright" like his father, or the fact that he threw he off Imperius curse cast by freaking Voldemort. Small details that show how impressive Harry is as a character. Also loved how you guys talked about Ron's awareness of being poor and how Harry tries to be sensitive to that. Their friendship is really something else, plus the fact this gives Harry another bond with Fred and George (who do make good use of the money and become entrepreneurs). Snape showing his Dark Mark to Minister of magic is a cool scene and shows how loyal he is to Dumbledore and how willing he is to back Dumbledore up.

Yesss livestream at the end of the books! Harry Potter party lol
