Hey friends,
Sorry, I let the newsletter get away from me a bit, lol. Here's everything I meant to mention before I accidentally wrote a whole thing about some Instagram user named John.
This week on Gender Conceal, Ozzy and I spoke with Palestinian organizer Yaffa! I particularly appreciated their insight into the Pomona student encampments, and why their strategies were so successful relative to other campuses.
If you already listened to the Yaffa ep, you already heard me say this once, but here we go again: it's almost March, which means Trans Day of (staying in and having a nice) Snack is coming up, and I'm trying to figure out what this year's organizing efforts will look like. For myriad reasons, I'd love to shift away from the "personally Venmo-ing every trans person" strategy. Instead, I'm hoping that we can help facilitate local TDOS events around the world. (I'm also happy to see other online spinoffs pop up—I know that not everyone wants to meet in person—but I do think that it’s important to be building local IRL community, having offline conversations, and exchanging material tangible resources.)
To this end, I'm asking that you imagine planning your own little TDOS event. (You don't have to actually do it; this is an imagination exercise.) What would you need help with? What questions or concerns would you have? Please LET US KNOW, so that we can start working on an FAQ and other resources.
Again, you're not committing to anything by asking a question! I just want an idea of what concerns people have or what obstacles they foresee. (Thank you to the two folks who have already sent in questions; they're both great!) Of course, if you do want to start planning your own event... hell yeah.
Here's Links & Stuff.
New York corner:
Mr. Marathon is the only marathon I would ever consider (but will still never ever do).
This goes against everything I’ve ever been taught about recycling in my hippie-ass life??
Queers + movies:
JP Brammer on Emilia Pérez is so so funny, you simply must read!
Callum Angus on seeking validation from national monuments and also Fresas y Chocolate
Yahoo dot com on Conclave Hive raising $$ for the Intersex Human Rights Fund (and Palestine)!
One more thing:
I was so sad to hear that my friends Sam and Madeline lost their dad last week, but it was such a joy and an honor to read these poems that he wrote about his family. I hope you appreciate them also!
That’s it for this week. Here’s your Weekly Rhubarb (with friend).

Photo: Ruby curled up on a rainbow blanket. A black and white cat is doing slow blinks at her in the background. Little rainbows of light are reflecting on Ruby and the rest of the scene.
