Hey friends,
Hope you’re all hanging in there — and a very happy Eric Adams Indictment Week to all who observe!!!
I am thrilled to announce that we’ve got a live show coming up in Boston (technically Somerville?) on Sunday, November 3, at 5pm! Mattie, Calvin, and I will be doing the same show as last Sunday’s Union Hall show, except it will be… in Massachusetts. I have never been to the Dunkin’ State in my life, and I am excited to meet many of you and learn about your ways.
Tickets are on sale now. Please come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please also tell your friends, and reassure them that you do not need to enjoy Gender Reveal or podcasts to have a good time because this is not a Gender Reveal podcast, it’s simply a bunch of jokes and bits about trans and/or gay.
Speaking of live shows, I’m doing a little standup set on Wednesday, October 16, at Club Cumming in Manhattan! It’s part of a trans surgery fundraiser called Reveal Yourself (!!) and one of the hosts is going to be doing a literal FFS face reveal (!!!!!!) so there’s never been a better context for my whole thing. I’ll be doing mostly the same set as Union Hall, so if you missed that show, here’s another shot at hearing my secrets (AND meeting a bunch of fun trans comedians).

Thank you to the 230 of you who have already completed our 2024 Patron Survey! I’ll probably close the survey next Sunday, Oct 6, so if you’d love to have your Voice Heard — and your name entered to win a fabulous prize — please fill out the form at your earliest convenience. (Participants have called it the “funnest survey” and “actually not that long” if that helps!)
And speaking of next Sunday… the following day is the deadline to pitch something for our Sex & The City anthology. (If you were thinking about pitching something about how the show is biphobic, rest assured, we have at least six of these already. But all other topics / formats / genres are still fair game, and I’m excited to see what you come up with! Have fun with it!!!)
If you miss the pitch deadline, you can still send completed submissions by October 21, so no worries!!! This is just a chance to run ideas by us before you get started, if you so choose. Full pitch & submission info is at girldadpress.com/satc.

Phew, okay, that’s enough about dates and deadlines! We’ve got a new Gender Conceal episode coming out in the next few days, so keep an eye out for that. In the meantime, here’s Links & Stuff.
SPORTS CENTER:
ICYMI, the Oakland A’s have been forced to leave Oakland on the whim of one cruel billionaire, and it’s very very sad even if you have no baseball feelings.
On the other end of baseball, however: GAY GAY GAY GAY.
I’ve been catching up on Rose Eveleth’s TESTED newsletter, and really appreciated this reflection on the Paralympics, which also led me to this excellent article (by Frankie De La Cretaz) about what happens when you’re not “disabled enough” to compete
Speaking of Frankie! They recently(ish) interviewed my friends Rachel Miller and Julie Kliegman, two editors who have worked on excellent trans sports reporting.
YIKES ZONE:
Yikes!!!!!!! ("Pew Poll: 70% of Jewish Israelis say it should be forbidden to express on social media platforms any sympathy for civilians in Gaza")
Yikes!!! (“After a lengthy court battle, the Oregonian newspaper forced Google to disclose how much its data centers were using in The Dalles, about 80 miles east of Portland; it turned out to be nearly a quarter of all the water available in the town”)
Fuck!!! (“When I was incarcerated in a private prison in Arizona back in 2023, the temperature reached 118 degrees one summer.” “Sometimes, during a heat wave, the prison gives us one cup of iced Gatorade in the evenings.”)
TUCK’S CREATURE CORNER:
Would you bid on the salt lick art??
Tweet of the year imho.
That’s it for this week. Thanks for reading all the way to the end! Here’s your weekly Rhubarb, taken by my downstairs neighbor :)

Xo,
Yr resident gender detective
PS: Thank you for all of the Ruby love in the patron survey!!! It means a lot :) :) :)
