The Greatest Showman UNEDITED REACTION (early access)

Comments

This was the first musical I had seen since The Sound of Music where I loved every single song in it. Usually a musical has a couple of standout songs but this show just blew my mind.

We can't react to it, but I have seen them and they are pretty cool

I also think that even if the circus people had ever wanted to learn things like dancing or singing or tried to get a "regular" job people would make it hard for them to do so (ie. bully them, under-pay them, flat out abuse them, refuse to take them on or take them on but then refuse to teach them how to do the actual thing so they'd end up getting fired or kicked out) which means that if they wanted to escape poverty then they probably would have to use thier "unsualness" to thier advantage or go into crime (which would be pretty hard to do when they stand out so much).

If you can please also reach to the rehearsal video for “This is Me” and “From Now On” it’s mind blowing.

I second Moulin Rouge . One of the best original movie musicals we have had in modern cinema . Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor are fantastic in it . It was Baz Luhrmann's gamble that payed off in a big way . Such a great star crossed love story .

I think the most impressive thing about this film for me apart from the music is how it balances theatre/ musical with the medium of cinema. The reason I personally did not like 'Les Misérables' and at times 'Lala Land' is because the numbers felt like I was watching a theatre play but in a movie. The opening in 'Greatest Showman' for example, there's less separation because it feels cinematic, the transitions are seamless and everything flows organically. It reminds me a bit of 'Moulin Rouge' and I prefer this style. I hope you'll check that out too. I'm glad you guys enjoyed the movie :)

Love this movie! Saw it in the theatre without knowing much and it was just jawdropping! I love they picked very high skilled dancers to make all the choreography look so sharp and amazing👏

Really enjoyed the reaction. Interesting discussion on the value of working hard to develop a skill vs. simply being born unique. By the way, did you guys notice that Jenny Lind was played by Rebecca Ferguson - "Rose the Hat" from Dr. Sleep?

Omg this is one of my favourites!

Love this movie. A lot of the music manages to hit all the right emotional cords with me. And I’m always proud of Keala Settle (the bearded lady) because she went to my tiny university and is finding so much success

Yes love this!!! Love all the actors, especially Zendaya!

Haven't watched the reaction yet, but just reading your caption, it seems you enjoyed it. Thank goodness. A lot of people were very critical of this movie, saying it wasn't true to life. (No duh.) And of course, it's VERY sentimental, with a story made up of tropes and time-worn plot devices. If one isn't prepared for that type of movie, then I can see how one would reject it outright. I guess I was just in the right mood when I saw this, because I ended up loving it.

Hugh Jackman started in musicals in his country of Australia . So his stage background has helped him in his film career and it shows . This film was his passion project that he wanted to do based on the life of P.T. Barnum . He is supposed to return to Broadway in a revival of The Music Man this year . Shows you how well versatile he is as an actor and performer .
