Hey friends,
Hope you’re all hanging in there. I am once again struggling to write anything that isn’t about The Horrors, but also, what is the good of writing about how genocide makes me, personally, feel upset? Who cares?! Instead, let’s start off with some relevant Links & Stuff, shall we?
I was lucky enough to attend a Cartoonists for Palestine event earlier this week. You can preorder their book here, with all proceeds going to Palestinian aid.
If you (like me) cannot always stomach the videos coming out of Gaza, I encourage you to instead read this comic by Murphy Pines. And then take action! For example…
Friend of the show Maia Kobabe has put together another excellent resource list full of ways to show up for Gaza right now. (I also really appreciate eir commitment to accessible graphics! We love to be able to READ the information in the infographics!!)
Wednesday put out this call/resource for artists who want to help people in Palestine
OK, here’s the part where I try to write a normal newsletter, here we go.
This week, we wrapped up the twelfth(!) season of Gender Reveal by sharing my most recent conversation with Jules Gill-Peterson. This episode has led to a lot of discussion in our Slack and elsewhere, and to that I say… GOOD!! I do not expect or want everyone to agree with everything that everyone says on Gender Reveal — in fact, many of our guests disagree pretty strongly with each other. But I love to see people having Thoughts!
Meanwhile, on Gender Conceal, I shared a chat with my good friend Arlie Adlington. We recorded this in Arlie’s ~flat~ in London near the very end of my trip, so I’m a little bit delirious, but luckily Arlie kept us on track. We mostly talked about Lesbians & Gays Support the Miners and the power of labor solidarity, but we also discuss “normal tea,” UK vs US t-shots, Sam Smith gossip, Cassius Adair gossip (hehe), and various queer podcasts that Arlie has made.

(Initially, I accidentally shared Arlie’s Gender Conceal episode with all Patreon tiers instead of the $5+ tier. This has since been corrected, but if you’re a $1 tier person who caught the episode… GOOD!! I hope you enjoy it! And as a reminder, all y’all can access the Gender Conceal transcripts at any time with the password “detective”.)
In other news, it is Pride Month Eve. Do you have fun gay plans?? Are you pre-overwhelmed with possibilities for chaos?? I highly suggest grabbing a ticket to our villains-themed live show on the 20th, which will surely solve all of your problems. (OK, but the real pitch is that there’s going to be a LOT of gossip that we CANNOT publish on the pod that you WILL want to hear!)
Here’s the rest of Links & Stuff.
Tuck’s Media Corner:
At the risk of accidentally turning you away from Podcast Listening, I cannot recommend the Libby app enough. Thousands of free audiobooks! Libraries are amazing!
On that note, I recently listened to the full-cast audiobook of my friend Calvin’s Several People Are Typing, and holy smokes, everyone is really acting. I loved it! May be slightly hard to follow if you haven’t read the book first(?) But both the book and audiobook only take 2-3 hours, which is such a treat for the 99% of us who have ADHD.
I’m currently listening to The Husbands by by Holly Gramazio, which I’m also really loving, but I’m only 28% finished so cannot fully vouch yet.
And hey, speaking of media, here are Isaac Fellman’s I Saw the TV Glow reflections.
Everything else:
This Hamilton Nolan newsletter introduced me to The Drivers Cooperative, the cooperative driver-owned version of Lyft/Uber. If you’ve used it, lmk how it went!
How to find hidden cameras in an Airbnb (yike!)
A long read on the popularization of “gaslighting” as a sort of catchall term (12ft.io might be helpful to access the article)
Leah Sottile interviewed journalist Sydney Brownstone about trauma & homelessness reporting.
This has all been a lot so here is a very cute video (sound on)! And also here’s a camel.
That’s it for this week. Here’s your Weekly Rhubarb.
