Hey friends,
Hope you’re all hanging in there. Statistically, at least one of you is probably occupying a college campus right now to protest the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and we love to see it!!! More about that later, but first, an announcement on a much less significant topic:
We’re doing a live show in Brooklyn for Pride™! By which I mean, I thought it would be funny to book a Bell House date for late June “as a bit,” and now I am reaping what I sowed (having to actually plan and book a show). Lineup is TBA but the theme is vaguely ~Villains of Pride~ and it’s going to be FUN!
Our show is at 7:30pm on June 20th. You’re the first to know, so grab your tickets now while they’re still piping hot or whatever. (Masks provided; mixed seating/standing; hit me up with any other questions!)
Since we didn’t have a new episode out this week, I want to back up and talk a little bit more about our episode with Jerika Che. I love this episode! It’s packed with really thoughtful, practical advice about organizing trans community events. (It also contains one of my favorite jokes in show history: “I suggest an ice breaker where you go around and say your name, your pronouns, and why you’re perpetuating the exclusion of trans women from queer spaces.”)
If you listened to Jerika talk about Trans Camp & Trans Land and thought “Wow, I wish I could go!” I am delighted to say that applications for Trans Land 2 are now open! The website has a really robust FAQ section, so if you’ve got a question, check out the site and go from there. (FYI: “We prioritize folks living in the Pacific Northwest, or who have close ties here, to grow local community… [but] we typically accept a few folks from outside the area, especially organizers and activists.”)

Next week on the show, Mckenzee and I are answering many many advice questions (and also non-advice questions, like, “What is your favorite Super Smash Brothers character and what does that say about your attachment style?”) and I think you will love it? Or maybe you’ll be mad at us but hopefully not :)
Oh, also, I’ve been meaning to say this but I don’t think I have: if I owe you a physical patreon reward (stickers, etc.) I will be mailing all of those out after the season wraps. They are coming, and will come even if you cancel your subscription before then! There will be Palestine solidarity stickers in there, too.
OK, here’s Links & Stuff:
Please read this essay written by a 14-year-old girl in Gaza
Much has been written about the many instances of police brutality being perpetrated at pro-Palestine student encampments; I really appreciate the students’ efforts to stay focused on Palestine, including the news of mass graves on hospital grounds
Another collective reminder to donate to some Operation Olive Branch fundraisers today

I appreciated Margaret Killjoy’s analogy of history as a saw wave
Hamilton Nolan wrote about Pamela Paul (derogatory) and early efforts towards a 2028 general strike (!!!)
If you saw Stress Positions then maybe you want to read Jackie Ess review Stress Positions?
Obviously this is colonialism but is it also lesbianism? (It is, right?)
ND is famous for Nimona and She-Ra and stuff but this is his finest artistic work probably
Did I mention we’re doing a show in June? :)
That’s it for this week. Here’s your weekly Rhubarb.

Photo: Ruby is laying on her back. Her stomach is once again SO fluffy. She is looking into the camera like "hello come pet the fluff" which is what I did don't worry.
