(Yes, I'm reusing this Bodiesx3 screenshot, don't worry about it.)
Hey friends,
Hope you’re all hanging in there. I’m very very sleepy and my Internet is barely working, so I’m going to skip the part where I write a newsletter and instead just tell you what’s going on with the podcast next week, which some people would argue is “exactly what the newsletter is already” but don’t worry about that.
Anyway! This week on the show, I spoke with my good friend Jerika of Seattle Trans Joy. I really love this chat with Jerika, but I’ll talk about it more in next week’s newsletter because ….
… there’s no new episode coming out next week! I realize that I said that we would be “back next week with more feelings about gender,” but we had to take the rare step of ~~tossing an entire episode into the garbage~~ and I simply could not get a replacement episode turned around in time. So! Instead, tomorrow, idk, listen to Jerika again? Listen to your favorite episode? Listen to 21 hours of Dune on audiobook — the full cast recording with the cool drone sounds and wind noises? Listen to 2 hours of T-Swift reciting the dregs of her notes app? Ultimately you don’t need me to list things to listen to, but did I mention that legally I’m asleep right now and I don’t know how to write a newsletter anymore?
OK, so, anyway. Nothing new tomorrow, but we did record another interview last Thursday, and we will be recording an advice episode on Monday, and later this week I will be attempting to rank all 27 MLB mascots from most trans to most cis, so things are cooking over here! We’re also booking a live show and trying to figure out, like, you know, the future. NBD.
Speaking of the future… everything continues to be so bad, but the current actions taking place at Columbia and all across the country are so inspiring to me. I haven’t been out in the streets lately, but I’ve been spending a lot of time on the Operation Olive Branch and Project Watermelon spreadsheets, sending donations where I can. It’s such a relief to see a GoFundMe update that a family has successfully crossed into Egypt. I know it's not a scalable or long-term solution, but we just gotta keep doing everything we can do.
On that note, for Links & Stuff, here are a few GFMs to donate to:
These parents in Gaza have a sick infant (sweet little Rama!) and another baby on the way
This family includes Faraj, who has leukemia, and his wife, who just gave birth
I’ve spoken to Deaa personally so his family has a special place in my heart now
These volunteers deliver resources to refugees in Rafah
That’s it for this week. More soon. Here’s your weekly Rhubarb.
