Shuli Branson! Best and worst trans profile headlines?

Hey friends,

Hope you’re all hanging in there. My brain is fully powered down — and u can tell because somehow I just had the joke-thought “my brain is powered the house down boots” which cannot be a sign of anything good!!!! 

Anyway, as you know, this week’s short episode was a tribute to the one and only Cecilia Gentili. Cecilia’s funeral service was held yesterday, and you will absolutely want to look at the photos, or maybe watch the whole thing on YouTube. (I have more to say about this, but you’ll hear it next week!)

Last week, I spoke with my friend Shuli Branson about finding the anarchism in our daily lives. I feel really alienated by most writings on political/philosophical theory, and I love the ways that Shuli makes anarchism feel accessible, both as a theory and as a practice. Topics include gender abolition, work abolition, youth liberation, community support & burnout, Palestine protests, anarchist views on money, and not naming yourself Jules, lol. And a lot more!!!

Next week on the show, we're chatting with Lucy Sante. You may have heard Lucy's name a lot recently, because she has been profiled in seemingly every publication that currently exists, including the New York Times, the Washington Post, the New Republic, the LA Times, Vulture, Slate, ELLE, and the Boston Globe. 

So far, the worst headline I’ve seen is “Lucy Sante Always Knew She Was a Woman” in Vogue. The only headline I’ve seen that doesn’t center gender transition is "Lucy Sante on Kafka, Communism, and Comme des Garçons” in Interview Magazine. And of course, a trans person wrote that one!! Good job, Grace.

Two other things:

1. A reminder that the password for the Gender Conceal transcripts is “detective” in case you want to read any of them ever
