Hey friends,

Happy Pride!!!! Hope you’re hanging in there. I’m gonna be honest: I just hyperfocused on zine layout stuff for five nonstop fun-filled hours and now my eyes don’t work and my brain cannot generate non-InDesign thoughts. But here goes nothing.

We’ve got a new season dropping in about six hours, featuring cartoonist A. Andrews (who you might also know as Gus). I’m really hyped about this episode and think you’ll love it!

But before the interview part of the episode, you’ll hear this little announcement from me:

“We’re gonna put episodes out through Pride Month, and then we’re gonna take a couple weeks off to make more episodes. Normally we wouldn’t start a season before we were fully ready to go, but I cannot stress enough that June is the one month a year where we are perceived, so we’re just gonna go for it and then regroup. If you’re curious what the hold up is, I’ll put a little explainer on the patreon. I’m not trying to paywall anything, I just don’t think that most people… care.”

So, if you care! Here’s the explanation, most of which you might have guessed:

I lost like 3 weeks of prep time working on that You’re Wrong About episode.
I’m packing this upcoming week and moving the following week.
I’m still, obviously, actively working on the 2 Trans 2 Furious zine (which you can still preorder with the code FAST10 for 10% off.)
I’m doing a bunch of events (including the Normal Gossip show and Mattie’s book event, plus teaching a few big workshops) in the next few weeks.
It’s Pride! We are trying to have a nice time!
Despite all of this, we probably would still have pulled off a full season, had we not hit a bunch of unanticipated production hurdles in the booking process. Everything’s totally fine, but we got thrown off a bit by the unpredictability of human beings lol.

So! We’ll see you in June, and then again in… late July? I assume? Again, I do not think 99% of you are particularly concerned about this, but I wanted to explain because y’all pay us to make a podcast and here we are, seemingly not making a podcast. Thanks for your patience.

I was on the Brian Lehrer Show (WNYC) and also Here & Now (WBUR) this week. Both were last-minute bookings and very chaotic. Brian was very fun in a deranged way — Here & Now was a little bit of a train wreck imo but they aired it so I guess it was fine?
I listed one zillion queer podcasts to check out over on Apple Podcasts! What a treat.
Speaking of podcast recs: Harvey Guillén was on Las Cultch this week and it was really good!!! Lots of good actor gossip but also some truly emotional moments?? Really a banner ep.

I ended up sending this week’s Hola Papi to my therapist so I may as well send it to y’all too.
My friend Malachi wrote about gender and makeovers and a breakfast cake recipe.
