Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets BOOK REVIEW (early access)

Comments

Ok cool. Will have to check it out

When you guys finish the books I highly recommend the video series “dumbledore’s big plan” by the super Carlin brothers on YouTube. It outlines how dumbledore was and could have been involved in the events of Harry’s years at hog warts and explains some stuff. It does contain many spoilers for the books which is why I recommend then for after you’re done reading them.

Lol wait until they get to the next book and actually get the marauders plotline!

Can't wait for your next review guys! This book was the most faithfully adapted, so there wasn't a great deal more to have learnt. That's going to change a hell of a lot however! You will learn more about Voldemorts past and how alike he and Harry are in certain aspects aswell. And you'll learn a lot more about Dumbledore. You may even start to notice that some of the trials Harry goes through and some of the knowledge Harry gains, may meticulously be orchestrated by Dumbledore. Did you never wonder why the mirror of Erised was in a random room when it was supposed to be protecting the stone during Christmas holidays right after Dumbledore gave Harry the cloak? ;)

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the rest of the books as the 3rd left out a lot of the older generation lore & the rest have whole plotlines that never made it into the movies despite being really important. I'm also excited for you to learn more about Voldermort as your right the similarities between him & Harry are much more explored in the books. Lastly I think the Ginny thing was tonned down a bit in the movie because they never mention the fact that she was litrually stealing Hagrid's chickens & killing them to get the blood to write the messages on the wall & then waking up confused & covered in feathers like in the book which I think is an important detail for a scene that happens later on the books as the movies unfortunately seemed to completely forget what happened to Ginny during her first year at Hogwarts like that wouldn't have affected her at all as a child.

About the love issue, I think it is important that Harrys mom sacrificed herself for Harry. That sacrifice, made out of a strong love is what is protecting Harry.

The Hubger Games Trilogy is also a good one to read!!! It is so much better than the movies!!!

Yeah he was cool. I don't think it added a crazy amount to the story but I can understand how people wanted to see him on screen

I feel that. Yeah it is not one of my favorites I don't think

Another book series you could check out is "the Bartimaeus trilogy"

I actually find the second book my least favorite in general. I hate snakes and spiders so this is just a hard book in general. But it does rely on the mystery a lot and doesn’t develop the characters as much. Great review. Looking forward to the rest!

Regarding the Polyjuice, hearing the character's real voices is just for our benefit of remembering who's who and staying in the character's headspace (just like in the book narration, they're referred to by their real names and we get internal dialogue). But the assumption is that everyone else hears the voices of the people they changed into. It's a pretty common practice in movies.

A part that I really liked in the second book is the Deathday Party. Like you guys I think I watched the movie first so I was pleasantly surprised by it. The movie cut it out for good reason but it added a little flavor.

In the next books you will start notice that you really don't know a lot that happened, so element of surprise will appear more and more. You guys didn't mention Peeves in first or second book review, any thoughts on him? 😁

I'm so excited for books 3-7!!! The series really picks up from book 3. The third book is one of my personal favorites and JK Rowling herself said the 3rd book was one of her best writing experiences.

I’m totally down for a livestream discussion about the books. It’s completely understandable that you would like chamber of secrets a little less already knowing what happens. Of all the movies Chamber of secrets is the best adaptation of the book. I’m glad you noticed Ron and really the entire Weasley family and how much better they are in the books, this is recurring theme in every book and you will really notice it from 3 onwards. Perhaps you noticed that the Polyjuice potion is supposed to change the person’s voice every time. The movies were very inconsistent with this. Regarding the movie book fans complain about most, that’s book 4 Goblet of fire because the director didn’t even finish reading the book. There’s a reason people constantly talk about how much better books 3-7 are than their movie counterparts and seeing your reaction to the differences is going to be fun!
