2023 Patron Survey! Trans Day of Snack Sneak Peek! History of TDoV!

Hey friends,

Hope you’re hanging in there. I am semi-frantically getting everything ready for our third annual Trans Day of Staying In and Having a Nice Snack tomorrow, which will include a bonus podcast, a mutual aid fund, a snack fund, a resource document, a merch sale, and more! (I don’t know what the more is yet but we have to assume there will be more.)

But before we get into all that!!! Our second annual PATRON SURVEY is here! It’s full of questions that will help us shape new seasons of the show, plus a few questions that might not help us shape anything but that I personally find fascinating lol.

Last year, we bribed y’all into taking the survey by offering to enter you into a raffle for a fun prize. This year, I’m just asking you to take it if it sounds fun, and skip it if you don’t care! (Speaking of skipping, almost every question is optional, so do not feel obligated to answer everything.) The link, again, is here. We'll keep it open for a week or two.

~~

OK, so. I’ll be announcing this publicly tomorrow via podcast and social media, but here’s the inside scoop on TDoS 2023:

This year's project focuses on trans people who live in US states that have passed anti-trans legislation and/or are considered at high risk of passing such legislation. (It is also open to trans people who recently fled such states due to anti-trans sentiment.) Unfortunately, at least 26 states are currently considered high-risk by experts like Chase Strangio: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, LA, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, OH, OK, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WV, and WY.

Any trans person in one of those states can sign up to receive a little bit of snack money from our wonderful team of venmo volunteers. This is not based on need or income; we just think it’s nice! (We’ll be sharing the signup form via the podcast and social media when it opens.)

In addition, trans people in those states experiencing acute financial hardship can apply for $100 of no-strings-attached funds, using the same signup form.

The application form also includes a link to this resource document that Ozzy and I are working on. We’re trying not to share the doc too publicly due to, you know, everything, but feel free to send to friends, and also feel free to suggest resources we should add.

Oh, and just for fun, we’re running a brief sale on Gender Reveal merch! We’ve got two Trans Day of Snack designs and Mattie’s Irreversible Slammage design all available for 10% off with code SNACK, today and tomorrow.

I mentioned a bonus podcast: tbh, tomorrow's bonus ep is basically all of these announcements, followed by like 10 minutes of our chat with Lilith K. So if you already read the newsletter and listen to Gender Conceal, you’re ahead of the game!

Today for Links & Stuff, I just want to share this article on the history of Trans Day of Visibility. I’ve been waiting to share this link for ALMOST A YEAR so here it is!!! Finally!!!!

More links next week, but this feels like enough, you know? So that’s it for now. See you around tomorrow. Here’s your Weekly Rhubarb.

Idk if you meant to keep the survey open but I just did it anyway.
