Hey friends,
Let’s get the big news out of the way: I’m thrilled to announce that we’ll be doing a live show at the Bell House in February! If you’re looking for a last-minute holiday gift for the New York-adjacent Gender Reveal listeners in your life, this is a great option! We’ll be catching up with AC Dumlao, answering listener questions with Daniel M. Lavery and Mattie Lubchansky, and debuting a brand new ~gender detective game~ with the help of Sabrina Imbler.
Our last live show sold out in 36 hours, so I wanted to make sure that you, the patrons, aka my best friends and bosses, got first dibs at tickets. The show is on Wednesday, February 1, and tickets are on sale now. (Masks are encouraged at the show, and I’m happy to answer any other accessibility questions.) Hope to see you there!

Anyway! In this week’s show, I’m honored to share our chat with Dean Spade. Dean gave me so much to think about, particularly in regards to mutual aid. As I’ve said before, this conversation really made me question the way our mutual aid program operations (in a good way!), and with Trans Day of Snack coming up in a few months, I’m really eager to hear your thoughts. Please feel free to leave them here in the comments, or in the mutual aid channel of our slack. (Here’s a link to join the slack — the link expires in a week but I can always send a new one if you need it.)
I also particularly loved Dean’s answer to our classic first question. I feel like more people need to hear it, frankly!

Next week on the show, I speak with artist and kapa-maker Lehuauakea about Native Hawaiian gender traditions and artistic practices, and whether people should be traveling to Hawaii. (Completely coincidentally, I’ve been editing this episode while watching the first season of White Lotus, and it sure is a trip.)
Although it’s not strictly necessary, I really encourage you to take a look at some of Lehuauakea’s work before the episode.

Finally, I just wanted to let you know that we’ve finally got the first six transcripts for this season up on our website! We also have most of the bonus episodes transcribed, — let me know if you need the password to that page. (It’s also fairly easy to guess tbh.)
OK, time for Links & Stuff. Which reminds me — last week, John Boyega autocorrected to John Bodega! Sorry to this man.
OK, that’s it for this week. Thanks for reading all the way through. Here’s your weekly Rhubarb.
