When the show came out a lot of reviews were confused about it's attitude toward Peter, basically saying the show couldn't decide if he was a villain or a tortured romantic lead. When what the show, um shows, is that he's human. Someone who came from trauma, and wanted connection, but also someone abusive who killed the woman he "loved" and was too much of a coward to even take on drowning for her. He switch her back into her body just in time for her to experience the panic and pain of actually drowning. I appreciate that the show creates someone who can understandably make Rebecca fall in love with him while not ever excusing what an awful, selfish person he is.
