Francisco Galarte! End-of-season news! It's been a week!

Hey everyone,

Well, I made it. After seventeen weeks straight of working simply too much, I uploaded the final episode of Gender Reveal season 6. But first, let's talk about last week's episode, shall we?

I felt super lucky to get to chat with Francisco J. Galarte about the experiences of trans and queer Chicanas, Chicanos, and Chicanx folks. Francisco is the author of Brown Trans Figurations, the director of the Feminist Research Institute at UNM, a professor of multiple subjects, and a founding editor (and former fashion editor) at Transgender Studies Quarterly.

I really appreciated Francisco sticking up for folks who use words like Latinx and Chicanx (even though I'm personally more of Latine/-e endings person... it's the same concept) in our chat, and I learned so much from his book about concepts like "evil deceiver" and "hateful other," as well as about the inherent conflicts between the goals of some mainstream LGBTQ orgs and the needs of trans people of color.

All in all, it's a great talk, and I hope y'all get a chance to listen.

Here are some other things that happened this week:

Lil Nas X danced on / killed / became Satan (good for him! So proud! We stan!)
I got my second Pfizer shot.
I tweeted that it's embarrassing for white people to have only white friends.
Some white supremacist groups swarmed my tweet and sent me some lovely messages, resulting in me locking down my account and doing this tweet that I'm still laughing about (sorry).
I watched the entire first season of Umbrella Academy as penance for making fun of the Elliot Page profile. As a result, I now only want to talk about season one of Umbrella Academy or Montero.
I went to a laughing "party" (two households very distanced from each other outside) for a baby whose parent is a former Gender Reveal guest(!!!)
I made my girlfriend listen to a clip of that weird Bernie Sanders spoken word Americana album instead of making out.

Oh, right, I was gonna give you my end-of-season announcements! Here they are:

Podcast is going on hiatus for a couple of months while I put together a very experimental Season 7 for you.
Patreon rewards will FINALLY be going out in April. Thanks to all our new folks for your patience.
Merch shop is scaling back for a month or two. We're still taking new submissions but we're not running them for a bit.
Grant and mutual aid are still TBD but I'll try to announce by Wednesday.

It's spring here, again, so expect a lot (A LOT) of flower pics once I stop having new episodes to promo. You've been warned.

In four hours, we'll be releasing our season finale with Jeffrey Marsh. I'm really interested in what y'all think of this one.
