Torrey Peters! Aries szn! The future of our grant/mutual aid!

Hey friends,

Hope you're all hanging in there. How are you feeling as we move from Pisces to Aries season? Are your heavy feelings of sadness or despair evolving into rage at the world for being so fucked up? Is your stagnancy turning into motion? Idk, just a guess.

I hope y'all got a chance to listen to my interview with Torrey Peters, author of Detransition, Baby and Infect Your Friends and Loved Ones and The Masker. Torrey was so generous with her time and so honest in a way that I truly did not expect from someone who has already done dozens and dozens of interviews this year. Topics from our interview include, but are not limited to:

If you haven't read Torrey's novellas yet, they're available for free at torreypeters.com. They're very weird in a way that I love! More weird trans lit please.

This is the last week to grab our March merch designs, so if you've been eyeing one of our new stickers or re-issued tops, jump on that while you can.

As always, everything is at bit.ly/gendermerch.

I suddenly realized yesterday that I'm supposed to be starting a new grant and/or mutual aid cycle on April 1. I've been pretty much winging this part of the gig for the last year, and I'm interested in what y'all think we should do next month. Mutual aid? Grant? Both? Is there a way we could do this all better? Very open to your feedback!

Speaking of mutual aid, by the way, I was able to spend Wednesday venmo-ing a total of $1385 to trans Asian folks across the US, so that they could do something nice for themselves in the wake of last week's tragedy. It's amazing to have a lil mutual aid slush fund for moments like this. Thank you to everyone who has contributed.

In a few hours, we're dropping our penultimate episode of season 6. It features Francisco J. Galarte, who was actually part of the iconic Trans Studies hiring cluster that Hil Malatino mentioned a few episodes ago. Francisco and I talk about his book, Brown Trans Figurations, and how his work explores the intersections of trans and Chicanx identities. (I also subtweet Elliot's profile in This Week in Gender; so sorry to be this way.)

That's it for today. I love you. Thanks for being here. Here's your weekly Rhubarb.

Thanks to everyone who sent warm wishes to my little cat-child. I think she's doing better this week.

xoxo,
Yr resident gender detective.
