Hey everyone,
Hope you're all hanging in there. This week on the show (or last week, by the time you're reading this), I had the pleasure of sharing my chat with Hil Malatino, a professor of women & gender studies and philosophy, and author of the books Queer Embodiment and Care Work, pictured here with Bernie Sanders.

I ask all of my guests for photos that I can use to promote their episodes, and Hil really delivered... honestly, to such an extent that it may be overshadowing the content of his episode. But I, for one, am not mad!
To be honest, I struggle with overly ~academic~ content. "WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY?" I often yell futilely at scientific papers I found on Google Scholar. But I'm also friends with multiple trans scholars who listen to the show. So, in this episode, my goal was to balance the more scholastic content with the fun, casual stuff about being dads who think gender should be hot and fun. Did it work? Let me know!

Other topics in this episode include:

This/next week on the show (like, in 5 hours, whenever that is for you), I'll be sharing my chat with Diamond Stylz. Y'all, this is a good one. Can't wait for you to hear it!
Diamond's episode is also the first time I tried to keep track of how long it took me to edit an episode. The editing (not the scheduling or the prep or the interview or the promotion or the transcript or the merch or the whatever — the editing) took 12-13 hours. And honestly, I have more I would tweak but there is not any more time in the day.
I say all this not to complain (I'm sure y'all also work 12-13 hours on things related to your job, lol, that is not interesting!!!!) but to say, thank you for paying me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This patreon is the only way that it makes sense for this to be my full-time job. Y'all are making it possible for this show to exist and I appreciate you so very deeply.
Here, let me pay you with a very secret Easter egg:

I was talking to Hil off-mic about how weird gender is, etc, and I mentioned that the twitter bio of our VERY FIRST Gender Reveal guest used to be "just a guy now," and Hil liked that so much that he added "just a guy now" to his bio. And then I told Nicholas, who promptly changed his bio back to "just a guy now." So here's a fun secret inside joke that used to be just between me and our Ep 2 guest and our Ep 84 guest, but is now shared with all of you as well. :)
OK, that's enough secrets for one day! But do know that I'm giving up my weekend this week (my weekend is monday and tuesday lol) to work overtime on a very special last-minute guest for next week. Cross your fingers that it works out!
Love y'all. Here's your extra chaotic Weekly Rhubarb.

xoxo,
Yr resident gender detective
