Hey everyone,
Hope you're hanging in there. I know we say this a lot, but what a time to be gay and alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is, hopefully, the last newsletter of the Trump presidency. I'm not sure what that means for us, practically. Nothing is going to change overnight, if it changes at all. And yet? It feels mildly reassuring to know that we're moving into the next chapter of history, whatever that looks likes. People say that the devil you know is better than the devil you don't, but sometimes I like to spice things up with a new fresh hell, you know what I mean?
Hey, are you tired of talking about the pandemic / impeachment / right-wing violence / vaccine troubles / whatever terrible thing is going on near you? Do you need a break for, say, an hour? Me too. That's why I'm so happy that this week on the show, I could share my conversation with Ari Robbins Greene.

I haven't shared this photo anywhere else because, although Ari actively gave me permission to use their full name on the show, they don't have their full name connected to the name of their TV special anywhere else online. And I can tell from google's search suggestions that people are prying, and by people I mean cis people, and I hate it. (I do mention it like 58 minutes into the podcast, because if you make it that far, you've kind of earned it.)
But here, where Google can't see us, I can connect the dots. Ari starred in a TLC reality special called "My Pregnant Husband," a show that purports to follow two ~husbands~ who are ~trans men~ and pregnant. Of course, Ari isn't a man — TLC just decided they are because cis people are always deciding what our genders are. lol?
Actually, SPEAKING of lol-ing at cis people: This week's episode is such an absolute delight. You'll hear me giggling throughout the episode at the humorous way Ari tackles important topics like:

This episode is a great one to share with friends, colleagues, family members, and anyone who has annoying questions about trans pregnancy and childrearing that you don't want to answer. :)
In merch news, some folks have already received their orders of our January designs! I love the way that Maia's design looks on this pouch.

Someone also shared a photo of them wearing the new Trans Folks are Sacred design on a blue t-shirt, and it looks SO GOOD. Highly recommend!

Of course, there's more merch where that came from. You know the drill: Find it all at bit.ly/gendermerch through Jan 31.
Not too much else to report over here. I just bought like three packs of thank you notes, so I'll be catching back up on Patreon rewards as soon as I can find time. We're also almost caught up on episode transcripts over at genderpodcast.com/listen — so if you want to revisit or share our recent episodes with Mauree Turner or Kai Cheng Thom that way, you can!
Next week on the show, I'll be sharing my conversation with one of my favorite people in the world, Salimatu Amabebe. There are an infinite number of amazing photos of him so I figured I should get started by sharing one now.

Andddd we'll leave it there, I think. Hang in there. Take care of yourself and each other. Please please please stay safe and healthy if you can. And hey, thanks for being here. I love you.
xoxo,
Yr resident gender detective
PS: Here's your weekly Rhubarb. I was framing some art by my friends (I just realized that all four artists are trans because of course they are) and Ruby decided to turn it into a little gallery for kitties, hehehehehe.

The two pieces on the left are by friend of the show Ariana Martinez, who also designed the Gender is a Boundless Expanse shirt!
