Mutual aid! Grant! New merch! New guests! I'm tired!

Hi bbs,

Hope you're hanging in there. I have many things to announce, so let's get started:

As you may recall, I'd been going back and forth between making our fall grant program into a grant (as the name implies) or a mutual aid fund.

On Indigenous Peoples Day, I asked twitter dot com to send donations for a grant program for Black and Indigenous trans and two-spirit people. We raised $5,300 in one day(!) and are now able to offer both a grant AND a mutual aid program. Woohoo!

The Grant Program: We're once again soliciting pitches and projects from two-spirit and trans people (using the most expansive definition of trans that includes anyone not strictly cisgender) who are doing rad work that supports our communities. That could be... making art with themes of gender and transness. Or, it could be... putting together supplies for houseless trans folks. Or, it could be... making a zine to explain two-spirit identities. Or it could be... making campy trans smut. (Spoiler: all four of these have won previous grants!)

We'll be ~granting~ ten $400 grants. To apply, you must be Black and/or Indigenous as well as some flavor of trans. Applications are due by Halloween (10/31) and can be found at bit.ly/GR20grant. Please help us spread the word.

The Mutual Aid Program:  Unlike the grant program, there's no special pitch or project needed to apply for mutual aid. You must simply be Black, Indigenous, and/or a person of color, as well as trans in some way. We will be distributing payments in $100 chunks ("chunks," gross), and we'll be sending money to as many people as we possibly can. Right now, I think we have funds to ~mutually aid~ 50 people.  Applications are also due by  Halloween for this, and are available at bit.ly/GR20aid

If you'd like to donate additional funds to the mutual aid program, you can do so via Venmo (@Tuck-Woodstock) or Cash App ($tuckwoodstock). But please know that by being a Patreon, you are already contributing to the grant/mutual aid fund! This wouldn't exist without your generosity.

Past Grants Transparency: Someone sent me a DM that was basically like "what's this whole grant program?" and I realized that I needed a place to list past winners and provide more information. That page is genderpodcast.com/grant, and it includes never-before-seen (sorry!) lists of all past winners, including the ones who weren't interviewed on the show for one reason or another. There isn't a lot of context on what everyone's project was, sorry, but it's better than nothing!

New Merch: After raising $1,600 for trans artists and rad orgs in one month of merch sales (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), I've restocked the shop through Halloween with our spookiest designs, including a couple new iterations of existing designs.

Gender is Dead Sweatshirts are now available in four colors, rather than two.

And Emma Jayne's Trans Ghouls United design is now available as a hoodie as well. There are five colors to choose from! Wow!

We also restocked the classic Support Trans Media design in a crewneck and a t-shirt if you're still looking for one of those. :)

OK, lastly, I wanted to let you know that I've officially started interviewing guests for Season 6! I have one interview in the bag (woohoo!), and three(!) more scheduled for next week. So, barring any life-changing election catastrophes (and you know there's gonna be a life-changing election catastrophe), we should be able to launch a new season of the podcast in November. Cross your fingers!

In personal news, I went kayaking yesterday. It was beautiful even though it's mid-October. I'm not complaining.

(That's not me.)

OK, gotta go do a trans band practice and eat pizza, so that's it for this week's newsletter. Hang in there. I love you.

Here's this week's Rhubarb.
