Harry Potter Books!!

i loved the HP books and have voted yes here bc i do enjoy people discussing books, but at the same time the JK situation can be a bit iffy! i think as long as you can be critical of the text and all of that, it'll be okay. on the other hand, can i tempt you into doing the percy jackson book series? (we've all accepted that there is no movie, but we do love the musical) although if you want to wait for the tv show, which is in the works at disney, to come out first, i get it

I think that is a great idea!! The books are such a wonderful read and I think you will love them. JK Rowling is a genius of a writer and her lessons should be shared with everyone. I hate bringing politics into things and I will only say this only once :) However you feel about Rowling shouldn't take away anything from experiencing this wonderful series of books. I'm not picking a side on the debate surrounding her, I'm, simply speaking from someone who loves the books and films. Rona has been crappy and this will be another awesome distraction. I SAY GO FOR IT!! :))

While the Harry Potter books are absolutely some of my favorites of all time, the author JK Rowling is a horrible human being, who has actively set herself against trans rights to the point of including trans characters as villains in her later books. She publicly uses her massive wealth and platform to spread harmful misinformation to her young and impressionable followers. It breaks my heart because Harry Potter has taught me so many valuable lessons about love and respect that it's own author did not learn. While I do totally understand if you choose to explore this series, I think bringing more attention to a person with bad intentions is negative thing to put out into the universe.

I used to like Harry Potter but the Author is horrible to people in the LGBTQ+ community. Particularly Trans people. I loved the movies and books of Harry Potter but I can’t support a woman who promotes misinformation and hatred when it comes to Transgender humans and non binary humans. I get where she comes from but saying trans people are a potential threat is ridiculous considering a trans person is more likely to be assaulted.
