gender parties! $100,000! send us mail?! (also, podcast update!)

Hey, friends.

I apologize for missing last week's newsletter, and the one before that. The truth is that I was a) very busy with the trans mutual aid fund b) very busy with the Life Kit episode I'm hosting, and, most of all, c) honestly doing very badly in my brain. Whoops!

The good news is that I'm doing much better now — still not great in the scheme of all people at all times, maybe, but OK enough in the context that we're in right now — and am getting back into the swing of making podcasts. I'd love to finish up the last five(?) episodes of this season, regroup, and then maybe begin to figure out how to make 15 more (aka Season 6) in this ~environment~.

Sounds wild, but I'll figure it out! I miss you, and I think we all deserve to think about one (1) thing that is not a global pandemic or national politics. (And that one thing is... gender, apparently.) Also, tbqh, this is my only income source for the foreseeable future, so I need to figure it out.

And speaking of which, holy moly, thank you so much for still being here, or for joining us in the last couple of months. Your support and dedication is staggering and I appreciate you so so deeply that I don't even know how to express it.

And SPEAKING OF WHICH, AGAIN, did you know that we've paid out $92,500 via the trans mutual aid fund?!?

I'm so incredibly proud and happy and thankful to everyone who has been able to donate. I'm hoping to open up the fund one more time, briefly, to distribute remaining donations and get us up to an even $100,000. Then, I'll probably close it up for the foreseeable future, because it turns out that operating a $100K mutual aid fund alone melts ur entire brain. Who would have guessed? In the meantime, please feel free to donate via PayPal (PayPal.me/MollyWoodstock) or cash app (Cash.Me/MollyWoodstock).

Sorry to steal a graphic from the United States Postal Service, but hey, did you know that you can support Gender Reveal and the postal service at the same time? There's two ways to do that, actually:

1. Buy stamps and send them to us! I'll use them to mail out Patreon rewards.
2. Buy one (1) stamp and use it to send me a postcard or letter!

I received two postcards from listeners last week and it brightened my whole-ass day. One of them was the beautifully illustrated handmade postcard(!!!!) that you saw at the top of this post, and the other was a lovely note. They both still cheer me up when I see them in my room! :)

No presh, but if you're bored or isolated and would like to send us mail, my ~business~ address is as follows:

M. Woodstock
3519 NE 15th Ave #188
Portland, OR 97212

I don't check my box super often because, uh, obvious reasons, but I'll try to start checking once a week or so. Hope to hear from you! No presh! It's whatever!

Since I last wrote to you, we've hosted two amazing Gender Reveal zoom parties, both filled with dozens of smiling trans faces. Thank you so so so much to everyone who joined us for one or both calls!

If you'd like to see more of these "parties" happen, let me know; I think they're super fun, but I'm also not 100% sure what to, uh, do on future calls? But I'm up to hang!

HUGE shout out to wonderful friend of the show Jery Che (formerly of Stick to Resist), who not only organized the Zoom calls, but also raised $450(!) for the trans mutual aid fund by selling off extra Stick to Resist buttons & pins, and who also designed the most iconic zoom event poster of all time. If you haven't listened to their Gender Reveal episode yet, I highly recommend it.

Have you been getting outside lately? Is it safe to do that where you are? Please be safe, first and foremost. But if you can make it outside without getting near anyone or having overwhelming anxiety, I hope you can enjoy some fresh air every once in a while and maybe see a human being from afar. Or a dog? Or a cat? Or flowers? I almost made this newsletter just a slideshow of 15 good flowers that I've seen lately. I guess I could still do that. Maybe one day soon.

I rode my bike around town today — staying far away from people, obviously, but luckily there weren't very many people out — and it felt really good. I also went to a farmer's market yesterday, which felt weird and illegal but there were only like 4 people there and it was very distanced and safe and idk?! Everyone's safety threshold was different but I try to be a responsible human being and everyone is masked up and both of these activities felt safer than the grocery store. I don't know. Nobody can possibly know anything, not really, but I hope you're healthy and supported and doing OK.

Did you know that strawberries exist? It's spring in hell.

That's it for this triple newsletter. Here's your weekly Rhubarb with special guest.
