2021-06-20 09:21:17 +0000 UTCI think it has a duel theme. One about fear and the other about civilizations in general. The quote about civilizations in the beginning sets it up. Throughout history you see large advanced civilizations coming to their ends largely by their own destruction by way of arrogance, greed, corruption, etc. It makes you think about our own civilization. There are still horrific atrocities, sacrifices, etc. everyday in our current time. Genocides, modern day slavery with sex trafficking, refugees dying trying to escape war torn homes, etc. itβs a cycle that keeps repeating itself.

2021-06-20 01:36:30 +0000 UTCThis takes somewhere in the rainforests in Southern Mexico and the countries near there, probably near the Yucatan peninsula as that is where the bulk of the ancient Mayan people were located. The Mayans were a collection of tribes and cities that had been battling the Aztecs for control over most of Mexico for a while. The Aztecs won the wars, but the Mayans were still around and still had various unconquered cities. The mayans also did human sacrifices, but the Aztecs are more well-known. The movie creators took a bit of creative license though and blended a lot of a cultures together.
