Mari Wrobi!! Trans Day of Visibility!! Lorena Borjas!

Friends! Happy belated Trans Day of Visibility! I hope you all enjoyed your special day of being seen before returning to your transparent spectral forms 😛

But, truly, I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday, whether you are able to be proudly and openly trans or whether you're not yet ready or able to share your truth with the world. Either way, I love you so so much and I'm so proud to be in community with you. (And to the cis people reading this — better luck next year!) 

To celebrate TDoV, I asked folks on twitter and instagram to share what they love about being trans. Above, you'll see 10 of the many responses we received. I loved loved loved reading these, and if you'd like to share in the comments what you love about being trans, I'd be delighted to hear it.

Anyway, this week on the show, we chat with trans, queer, and intersex advocate Mari Wrobi. Mari talks about being the only trans person at their middle school; what transition looks like for intersex folks; what a "typical intersex puberty" looks like (spoiler: there isn't one); and why language like "people with vaginas" might not always be as inclusive as we think it is.

Mari also has a super cute and super queer Instagram account @genderfenderbender if you want to stay in touch with them — I highly recommend it.

This week on the show, we also shared the news of the passing of Lorena Borjas, best known for her 30-year activism and outreach supporting trans folks, immigrants, and sex workers. I strongly recommend learning more about her work, if you're not already familiar. There's a short documentary about her that's available on youtube. 

Not sure what else to tell you because things are legally not allowed to happen anymore. What have y'all been up to? Are you hanging in there? Anything I can do to make everything marginally more bearable?
