Trans Day of Remembrance

This image is from a beautiful article on the Daily Beast entitled "The Transgender Day of Remembrance: So Much Loss, So Much to Keep Fighting For." Read here.

[cw: passing mention of trans death/murder]

Hey everyone,

Hope you're all hanging in there. I'd like to mark this Trans Day of Remembrance by sharing a handful of articles and also —because of the way I am — tweets.

I'll start by reminding everyone that Carta Monir speaks very eloquently about rethinking Trans Day of Remembrance on her episode of Gender Reveal, which you can listen to here or in whatever app you use. (This isn't show promo! I just think Carta is very smart and good!)

From Vogue and friend of the show Katelyn Burns: "[TDoR] Founder Gwendolyn Ann Smith on the 20th Anniversary of Transgender Day of Remembrance." Read here.

From them: "On the 20th annual Transgender Day of Remembrance, eight activists offer their advice on how anyone can fight for the trans community." Read here.

From Out and Raquel Willis: "Introducing the Out100 Trans Obituaries Project." Read here.

From GLAAD: an "online vigil" thread on Twitter listing the names and biographical info of trans people killed in 2019. Read here.

^This from friend of the show Meredith Talusan.

And, as promised, more tweets.

^From friend of the show Kai Minosh Pyle.

I have nothing else to say that y'all don't already know. Show up for each other. Take care of yourselves. Make transphobes scared. Share resources. Demand more from this shitty world. Take up space. Be safe. Hang in there.

As Carta says, being trans is a gift. I love you.
