there are people you haven't met who will love you.

Friends. I've been doing Not Great™ lately — for many reasons, mostly related to work, but also because I've been dwelling too much on past relationships, tbd — and one way I've been dealing with it is by reminding myself that there are people out there that I haven't met yet who will one day love me. It's corny as heck but it's true, and I know it's true because a few of my very very best friends in the universe are people who I didn't even know a year ago.

One of them is obviously my cat child, Rhubarb, who was not even born last summer!

Another one is my roommate Tehya, who I met on Tinder (it's good for something!) last Pride, and who is now a very good buddy who has spent a lot of time this week patiently listening to me cry AND a lot of time briskly walking to the New Seasons with me to buy wine and sparkling water. (AND a lot of time watching Riverdale season 3 with me; follow along on Twitter if you like to listen to me yell about how nobody drinks their milkshakes.)

Tehya and I hiked Dog Mountain yesterday, and I want to share these photos with you because we looked powerfully gay (I'm wearing a tank designed by friend of the show Matt Lubchanskybuy yr own and $5 will go to Trans Lifeline) and we've gotta take queer joy where we can get it, you know?

Not an incredible photo of us, but look at those powerful shirts!

Today I hung out with an ex and then cried some more (feelings! they're hard!), and then we went to the rose garden to drink rosé and lay on the ground because sometimes you've just gotta.

Anyway, this week in podcast news, I had the joy and the privilege of interviewing radio pal Morgan Givens about Blackness, testosterone, public radio, trans storytelling, cops, and moooore. It was a truly incredible chat and I truly can't wait to share it with you. In the meantime, find Morgan on his award-winning Flyest Fables podcast. (FWIW, Morgan is also someone who I hadn't met a year ago! It's almost like rad new people appear in life all the time!)

Also in podcast news....... should I start season 4 next week? It seems like it's been an age since I released an episode and I miss y'all a ton. (I'm not super psyched to give up my summer weekends to podcast editing, tbh — anyone know how I can quit my day job but still have enough health insurance & money to keep Ruby well-stocked with wet food and me well-stocked with SSRIs and kombucha? Plz help.) How are y'all feeling about the break? Too long? Could be longer? Just right?

I never know if anyone reads these, but if you're still with me, thanks for being here. There are so many people you haven't met yet who will love you. Take care of yourself.

This is so good. And yes, I’d love more eps soon, but I also totally want you to have your weekends, so… I’ll be psyched whenever I see Gender Reveal in my feed again!

We're all just real grateful you're alive and are so generous with us. You're doing so much better than you think you are. We're all here for you just as much as you are for us. You should enjoy your summer in whatever way feels exactly right. Wanna release a teaser? Do it! Wanna continue the break? Do it! Wanna start s4 for reals soon? Cool! Whatever you want will be the right thing, because it's coming from your drive to do the thing. We support you and the show either way. Cyber luuuvvvv!

I'm sorry you have had a hard time. I have just had a week of feeling incredibly sad and alone, and I needed to read this. I always enjoy reading your Patreon posts. As for when to start the pod again, whenever you feel is a good time for you. <3

I read these, and I enjoy them, and I agree with you. My very best friend is someone I didn't meet until grad school! Who knows who is just around the corner :)
