Introducing our first Season 4 guest!

Gender Reveal season four... it's a thing! That's happening!

Last Friday, I had the privilege of chatting with our first guest of the new Gender Reveal season. (Well, it might not air first, but it was recorded first! Who knows how time works!) I spoke with author and illustrator Maia Kobabe about using Spivak pronouns (e/em/eir), finding space in the queer community as an asexual and aromantic person, stanning Harry Potter despite J.K. Rowling's bad behavior, and so so much more. Maia was an extremely thoughtful and generous guest, and I'm so excited for you to hear our conversation!

While you're waiting for Maia's episode to come out, I highly recommend that you read eir debut graphic memoir, Gender Queer. The book is delightful and affirming and charming and (imo) accessible for all audiences, whether you're an ace/aro/nonbinary person or someone trying to figure out what "ace/aro/nonbinary" means. Gender Queer is out in May, but you can pre-order Gender Queer from Powell's right now (or request it at your local bookstore or library or comic book cave or do anything to avoid giving ur good good gay money to Supervillain #1 Jeffrey P. Bezos).

But I digress. So, here's a picture of the book cover! You can also read an excerpt of the book at Maia's website, redgoldsparkspress.com.

In other news, I had the honor of seeing Morgan Parker read this week. She's not trans (to my knowledge) but she's real great anyway and I thought you should know about her! Morgan has written three books of poetry with great titles: Magical Negro (2019), There Are More Beautiful Things than Beyoncé (2017) and Other People's Comfort Keeps Me Up at Night (2015). After the reading, she stamped my copy of Magical Negro with a Harriet Tubman stamp and signed my copy of TAMBTTB with the words "Molly is more beautiful than Beyoncé," which is STRESSFUL TO ME in its sacreligiosity?! Anyway, Morgan Parker is a talented babe and you should follow her.

Did y'all listen to last week's bonus episode that we lovingly borrowed from Vegan Warrior Princesses Attack? What did you think? I've loved hearing everyone's reactions to the (sometimes spicy) questions and the way we handled them.

Speaking of sometimes spicy questions, I'm flying off to Colorado for a few days to see best friend of the show Z(ee) Griffler! We'll be recording a special bonus advice episode for you, so keep an eye out for that dropping sometime in the next, uh, several weeks. Here's a photo strip of Z & me on our last trip together because I love our friendship!!!!

I will close this newsletter by reminding u that Stick to Resist sells very good pronoun and pride flag buttons for virtually free, and that you can find us on Twitter and Instagram @gendereveal, and that I love you and appreciate your generous support very very much!

Also, here's this week's photo of my cat child.

XO,

Molly
