For the non-Japanese speakers of the group, the word for those "baby trees" is Bonzai. The first time in the maintenance shed when Miyagi shows him the trees Daniel calls them "Banzai" (with an a) and Miyagi corrects him. Then, in the scene where Miyagi is drinking, he says "banzai!" (this time with an a, used correctly). In Japanese, this was a WW2 war cry. Once again, Daniel misinterprets the two similar sounding words and returns the cheer "baby trees!", which is not what Miyagi said. It's a inside joke for the watchers with a passing knowledge of Japanese.

2021-06-08 18:06:28 +0000 UTCFor the time it was a good movie I like the Pat damaged healer arc. The story movie wise was wholesome. Just can’t watch past the way karate is portrayed it’s probably not noticeable for an uneducated viewer, it’s just not that good half of the action is nonsense for me. But putting that aside it’s a great coming of age type of movie.
