Tanjiro's character is one of my favorites to be honest. He's kind-hearted with a strong conviction to protect Nezuko and bring her back to normal. Actually a strong conviction to protect anyone that needs protecting. I think Zenitsu sees that in Tanijiro. I still don't know how Tanijiro can move on knowing his entire family was basically killed. He's honestly so strong. But, I think that is a similar subject in this anime where a lot of people have lost their families to these demons.

I think they made the episode to be comedic and get to know the characters together. Not only that I think Tanjiro actually really needed a break.

I think the Taboo is that Demon Slayers aren't allowed to fight or harm other Demon Slayers. I don't know if that's what Zenitsu is referencing. But, I can't see why it wouldn't be allowed in self-defensive purposes. Not like all Demon Slayers will be good or will turn out to be good. But, Inosuke Hashibira the boar isn't bad so I don't think it matters. Inosuke just enjoys to fight. He's actually similar to one character in Bleach who literally lives to just fight. I can't spoil that though.
