Introduction to Jhope.

Hope World:

A song that describes J-hope for who is and the mindset he has, as his stage name implies, full of hope. Even in the music you can feel his colorful personality and his dance background.

Doolset: https://doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/2018/06/01/hope-world/

P.O.P (Piece of Peace):

J-Hope confessed to how he wanted to be a piece of peace for people. Understanding there are hard times, j-hope comforts the listeners to continue fighting and searching to have peace, and how he hopes he can play a role in that search.

Daydream:

This song talks of the impossibility that comes with being one of the biggest artists in the world. Stepping beyond the artist name J-hope, we see him confess how he finds himself daydreaming as a form of escapism. “It’s only natural that Jung Hoseok as a person has his own needs as a human being. The song is about those desires.” Also, the MV has a special cameo appearance of V at 03:07 :)

Base Line:

A song describing J-hope's foundations, who he is, and his beginnings. You can hear the street dance influences clearly in this song.

Doolset: https://doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/2018/06/01/base-line/

Hangsang (always) (ft. Supreme Boi):

Always (or Hangsang) is a tribute for the members of BTS. “I showed off in this track. I’m truly proud of our group. There’s this deep pride. We started working since our early years and poured out time into our work. The seven of us have worked together for so long.”

Doolset: https://doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/2018/06/01/%ed%95%ad%ec%83%81-hangsang-ft-supreme-boi/

Airplane:

J-hope uses an airplane as a euphemism for his own success. Bringing in his brothers who were beside him in success, we hear the members as they chant airplane near the end.

In the album Love Yourself: tear, there's a song called Airplane pt.2, because Hope World was released after the release of this album, army was confused where pt 1 was, months later we got our answer. J-hope even uses a same verse in both songs yet still manages to make them sound different and unique in each song.

Blue side:

The final song of the mixtape, J-Hope explained the song is about his desire to go back in time when he was "young and clueless." “When I hear this song, good memories come back to me. This song is about wanting to go back when I didn’t know anything. “

In the 2018 mixtape, Blue Side was a shorter outro, and on the three year anniversary J-hope released an extended version as a surprise. This is the extended version.

Thanks for this! I am a Hobi bias and I appreciate you sharing this info with Jim. Borahae!

Oh! I found it! I was searching for this reaction. Borahae! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I wish you had a Hobi bias on your dream team or in your chat at least--people got so many things wrong this time. I'm sure someone else corrected you about the production credits (ARMYs don't know the difference between "produced" "wrote" "composed" "came up with the concept" haha). Hobi is a prolific writer and producer. He has 123 writing credits to date dating back to 2012 (pre-debut). But Hope World isn't 100% his production though it IS a product of his mind. The concept of him being a Captain Arronax figure and leading us on a journey through Hope World is so him. He is known for making literary references in his lyrics all the time. Also, Street Dance IS a technical dance. Yes, it evolved on the street in communities of color. But Hoseok trained at a dance academy for 6 years in various street/hip hop styles (popping, locking, waving, animation, house). In 2008, he WON A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP in Boogaloo (which is his primary style). There is a lot of free-styling in street dance culture so that is a strength of his. But his foundations are masterful and it's what makes his details stand out in every single BTS performance. He's literally a prodigy at dance. People tend to give street styles less credit when it comes to artistry or difficulty because it's seen as more common/accessible, less exclusive (this is 100% because it wasn't historically--and currently--practiced by white elites in private, expensive dance academies. Make no mistake--the control and precision hip hop styles take to master is among the highest level of any genre of dance. And again, Hoseok is a master of several of these styles. Also, the introduction didn't really mention it so I wonder if you know (maybe you do at this point) that Hobi is the Dance and Performance Leader of the team. Rise of Bangtan is a great series but it definitely underplays the role j-hope has had from day 1 as the "Second Leader" of Bangtan. He has written on as many BTS songs as Yoongi has, was the second member with registered credits dating all the way to pre-debut, and has produced many of our favorite bangers like Dionysus and Dis-ease. I just feel like you appreciate his fun side but you haven't had much exposure to his tremendous work ethic and all-rounder talent. Of course, I'm making this comment 4 months late so maybe you have by this point. I'll look forward it!

I don't really have a bias. I love J Hope; his sound, voice attitude, impact on BTS. RM stated the other day that the members call him a machine. Thank you for posting this reaction. I feel that Suga and RM in their music are almost angry scared and depress about life's pain and struggles. While J hope is more like I don't care this how I live my life despite that more in a grateful attitude.

Loved this so much, thanks Jim!💜 For some reason, the sound went out after you can back from the bathroom, but came back before you finished Hobi's dance VLive. Also, I hope you can check out the behind the scenes shooting of House of ARMY, as well as the continuation House of ARMY called Guardians of the ARMY bomb from their 4th Muster!

bts_gadaursan's videos are extremely well made and it was nice to see the dream team include jhope's episode in this livestream. Not too many people know about this mini series and you should definitely look into the rest of their videos about each member. Top quality like rise of bangtan. I know you adore hobi and i feel like as you start watching bon voyage, you'll see jin creeping up on you as well for being a complete dork. He's a very chaotic man. You'll see. 😉💕 They both have such great energy and will crack you up as a duo. About the whole alcohol conversation jhope has the lowest tolerance out of all the members. The ranking from highest to lowest would be suga, jin, jimin, namjoon, jungkook, taehyung and of course hobi. Tae is not a fan of alcohol but you will catch him drinking red/white wine and fruit flavoured soju. He doesn't like to drink anything bitter. Jhope knows tons and tons of old school hip hop because that's all he ever danced to so i'm sure he knows about cypress hill.

just got to the end of this video! would love for a silly moments/try not to laugh compilation video reaction stream. so if that's a legitimate idea, here's me showing interest! :D

juju

No need to apologize; I appreciate the info. I find it annoying, too 😉

since the lyric video you used for always aka hangsang was incorrect this is the actual last verse of the song on doolset "Legitimacy is dog food food Without thinking woof woof Confident like a dog Bravado, insistence, delusion Using your seniority to harass others Pow pow to them We look straight ahead fair and square With our achievements and awards, we step on them With ma label, our stepping stone With ma fan, thank you With ma team Always " the line missing from most lyric videos is the "Using your seniority to harass others " this is a direct call out to older kpop idols in the industry who looked down on bts as bts would call them seniors within the industry since they started before bts. proving that bts doesnt have many idol friends along with the line "On our side, there was no one" which was earlier in the verse. this is important to remember and view because many non armys and many multi stans love to say "but bts and this group are friends its only the fandoms who fight" when no many of those groups are not friends with bts and actually despised them and its a well known fact by bts and armys who listen to what bts say. people try to rewrite bts's history or downplay what they went trhough and still go through just cause theyre huge now but they had to cut many people off for talking bad about them and they said they dont have many idol friends. this is important because its part of their story and shows how fame isnt all happy glits and glamour and many kpop fans want it to be they wanna pretend that kpop idols are these perfect beings with no problems which is what separates bts from kpop theyre real and wont lie just to make their audience comfortable and they wont play into delusional fantasy's etc sorry for this long comment but many lyric videos purposely mistranslate leaving that one line out and it irks my nerves lol

tori

Sorry to hear about your bad day. I Hope our stream can cheer you up :)

I'll be sure to listen to them back.

just had the worst day, thank you for uploading this. You're amazing Jim, cant wait to watch. :D

Ashley Frederick

Can't wait to watch this--looks like so much fun! One quick correction about Airplane; actually, Love Yourself: Tear was released about 2 months AFTER Hope World, so Airplane Pt. 2 definitely made perfect sense at the time lol. j-hope does reuse one of his verses from Airplane in Airplane Pt. 2, which is super cool.
