My final comment - I'm talking too much! there is an AMAZING reddit post about the history/context behind that infamous BFree confrontation, here: https://www.reddit.com/r/bangtan/comments/b513xo/rm_suga_and_the_hip_hop_talk_with_bfree/. For me, this post really highlighted how much RM consistently "took one for the team" in their initial career and makes me respect him so much more (That being said, i read recently, but don't have the source off-hand, sorry!), that Bang PD actually tried to confront BFree after this incident in order to defend Namjoon and Yoongi but was unable to reach him. I'm a big fan of Bang PD, so even while recognizing Namjoon sometimes took hits that weren't his fault, I still believe Bang PD has always done his best to support them as well). It also showcases how much people were looking for ways to accuse them and put them down. Anyway, it is a great read for anyone more interested in this incident or their early career. That reddit poster has done several really incredible posts about BTS and I really recommend their stuff.

yeah... to this day I feel like RM and J-Hope carry insecurities about their looks because of how much they were hated on early in their career (in fact, i find it interesting and heartbreaking that in the clip you just watched, J-Hope referred to himself as J-Horse for the year of the horse, as this was actually a mocking name people gave him because of his long face. He's explicitly asked people to not call him that, including even his fellow members that he's close to, which just shows how much it actually impacted him). In the "Born Singer" song that I think you reacted to already, RM mentions his 'sunglasses and hairstyle, i know why you make fun of me' [paraphrased]. He later says that he wore sunglasses all the time precisely to hide his face. It is devastating. Again, this all ties up in the identity issues he keeps bringing up in his lyrics, because he was a rapper -- and a VERY well known one in the underground scene, even as a 13/14/15 year old (according to Suga and other rappers at the time) -- who became an idol to reach a broader audience, but found that audience very unaccepting of him because of his looks. One of the most amazing things to me is that J-hope, RM and Suga -- after receiving all that criticism -- dedicated themselves to making music that spreads kindness, acceptance, and helping people love themselves. It's easy to be a bulletproof boyscout when there are no bullets. It's tough to be a bullet-proof boy-scout when their are bullets so you prove you are strong/tough. It's unimaginably powerful to be a bullet-proof boy-scout who respond to bullets with (anger, sure, in their rap lines and diss tracks as they are trying to figure things out) vulnerability, kindness, and hope. Beautiful souls shining through indeed.

On the choreo "how do they not just run into each other", there are some funny clips where Namjoon is notorious for bulldozing the other members to get to his spot haha Edit: yeah, for some reason JK really likes Bieber Edit2: fun fact, BFree (the jerk in the interview) went to jail for assault and the day he got out of jail was when BTS Mcdonalds meal just came out and everyone tweeted him about it :D

And here I come with my background information again... ;) About BTS being good-looking guys: They certainly are and ARMYs think they are the most handsome men in the world, but by Korean pop standards most of them actually weren't the obvious choice based on their looks. They were actually mocked for their looks a lot, especially some of the boys. In fact to this day, a lot of the attacks they get from haters are about their looks, not just from those people who insult them with racist and homophobic slurs but also from fans of other K-pop groups. Personally, I didn't think they were extremely attractive when I fell in love with them but now I do. I think it's a bit like thinking your child is the most beautiful. To me their beautiful souls really shine through...
