There are Oni and the Kuchisake-Onna in DBD! She is a skin for the Artist, I believe. Kappa are also in Animal Crossing, as well as Redd being a tricky fox. 🥰 Yokai are so interesting! Also, loving the little Hajikkaki now 😭 poor guy.

Koopas in Mario being based on Kappa being the most obvious one, but also the whole "your money and valuables become leaves" being an integral part of the UI in animal crossing. I didn't know until today that kitsune gained tails as they grew and I realized that's why Tails from Sonic has 2 tails! I also was so confused, as they talked about the Utsuro-Bune, why they didn't mention that they'd done a whole episode on it before! I only just realized that it was Ship Hits the Fan that covered it.

Would have liked a wee bit of a deeper dive into some, particularly oni, as one of the theories surrounding them is that they represent the various tribes that existed throughout Japan at the time before they were subjugated or wiped out.

These shrines are often tucked away in places you might not discover on your own. When Jin, the protagonist, prays at one of these shrines, he receives a charm as a reward.
