RIGGING THE I-REX PART 1: Building The Skeleton

Part One of the In-Depth Dinosaur rigging tutorial series I am doing, More to follow shortly I just haven't had time to edit them up yet! Skeleton setup is the most time consuming (and probably most boring) part of rigging but is also crucial to getting a professional quality rig!  FBX AND HIP FILE ATTACHED

RIGGING THE I-REX PART 1: Building The Skeleton

Just finished the first part ! This exactly what I was looking for, it’s great that you go quite in depth about it and show different ways of building joints, after all it’s just point. Looking forward to watch all the rest and more ! I’ve got one completely unrelated question ! What do you use to get the keyboard you are pressing to show on screen ? Thanks

Hey Parker, I didn't get the notification. Thank you for the reply. So the axis align it's an "artistic choice" then? Im mostly using KineFx for skinning my models (Im an indie solo dev) didnt get into the animation part too much yet (I have enough with programming, modeling, sculpting, etc.) but eventually I will. Not sure yet if I will be animating with ControlRig or KineFx but for sure I want to know at least the very basic of both system. Thank you for your content!

Hey Juan! This is actually going to be an in depth series similar to the one on youtube but instead taking this mesh and model to the limits of KineFX and in some places definitely overkill lol. I have just been busy lately and havent had time to record more courses as these some times take a long time to record since i don't usually go in with a script and have to do some editing. To answer your question about the axis's though, The specific axis doesn't always have to be the Z, It could always be the X or always be the Y. It just has to align in a way that makes sense so later down the line when we are working in CHOPs or building constraints we know what direction we are moving without having to see the actual rig, so we can confidently build expressions based on the orientation! We will be going deep into the rig controls soon!
