Progress Update for Chapter 3 (Public Announcement)

Hey all. Thanks so much for your continued support, whether financially or verbally. It really means the world to me and gives me the motivation to push this project forward/deliver quality updates with lots of content for you to binge.

As many of you likely have guessed, with the month nearing it's end, it's almost that time again. That's right, I'm talking about Polarity Chapter Three! First of all, you guys are all unbelievably patient and I really appreciate that. This month has been especially difficult for me for many personal reasons, but something that brings me great enjoyment is being able to sit down and work on this game.

As per usual, this progress update will come in the form of a FAQ/Q&A.

Q: What is the release date for Polarity Chapter Three?
A: Unlike last month I don't want to kill myself with 38 hour development grinds, so rather than setting a hard deadline I'll just say that the game is currently 75% completed and you can expect the update to come out on or around the 30th (that's only 8 days from now). To make it easier for you guys to check the progress, I've added a progress tracker located at the very top of the Patreon page. Check the image below to see exactly where it's located.

This progress tracker will be updated week to week to more accurately display how far along each chapter of the game currently is.

Q: The update seems like it took a little longer than expected. What happened?
A: This will be a longer/more detailed answer than I'd normally give. This is for the sake of transparency. The honest answer is: nothing happened. 

As you guys all know by now I'm a solo developer who also works a full-time job. Even though I was able to cut down from 57 to 36 hour weeks, this still consumes three whole days and that's not counting the time I require to run errands, to take care of things around my house (dishes, lawn work, etc), and to have some "time off" where I can just sit back and relax. I'm also very new to game development, so I'm still learning the ropes and getting my bearings/discovering how long things will take. Before now I could only speculate.

The short of it is, each update is going to take approximately 31 days, sometimes maybe even closer to 40. This has the potential to change as the support I receive grows, because I want to/plan to do this full-time. I am absolutely confident, however, that I'll be a full-time developer by the end of this year if things go well in the next few updates! That means no more job, and faster updates. But in the meantime, for my own mental and physical health, I need to pace myself. In addition to this, as time goes on I get better at what I'm doing and the quality of the game increases. However, higher quality means things take a little longer.

Q: How long will Chapter Three of Polarity be?
A: This chapter is expected to be around 45-55 minutes long, depending on how fast you normally play. If you're not someone who pays much attention to the imagery, you might get closer to 40 minutes... but I'm aiming for 45 for even the quickest of players. Chapter 3 will indeed have more content than Chapter 1 or 2.

Q: What type of content can I expect from Chapter 3 of Polarity?
A: This one is going to be deep, but also loads of fun. Without spoiling too much, this chapter covers the first day at the dojo. There, you will be meeting and getting to know many of the MC's trainees. Players will also get to spend some time with Lyanna, Kayla, Naomi, Melanie, and Lucia. With this chapter comes much knowledge, meaning you'll be learning a lot of dark secrets about Naomi's past, getting some insight into Lyanna's childhood, analyzing and evaluating your "students," and even learning more about our mysterious masked stalker.

Anyway, I hope you guys are excited, because I'm incredibly excited to push this out! You can probably expect at least one more post similar to this before the chapter is released. Please excuse any lack of patron-only posts for the time being, as I'm working hard on the game itself and trying to manage my time wisely. With that said, the next edition of "Guess Dat *ss" is coming soon, as well as a new poll.
