Switching form Redshift back to Octane - Domestika special

Hey everyone,

I heard so many nice things about Octane lately that I also wanted to give it a try. And also I recorded this bonus video for you.
(Redshift will still stay my main renderer)

Great to hear! Thank you

Ruben Gijselhart

Yes Redshift will stay my main renderer, Octane is going to be a bonus

Vincent Schwenk

Will Redshift still be your main render engine for tutorials though? Or are you considering switching to Octane? I just started learning Redshift (only used Vray in the past) and hope to continue learning it with your tutorials. Thanks!

Ruben Gijselhart

Purchased as soon as I see it

Colin Chen

awesome, I will try that in my next rendering.

Vincent Schwenk

Love to see some octane stuffs :')

Thank you, thank, thank you, Vincent! I've been waiting for so long for an Octane tutorial, I hope you can have more Octane tutorials in the future. Thanks again!

Also you have an explanation on how to work with displacement mixer here : http://www.aoktar.com/octane/OCTANE%20HELP%20MANUAL.html?VertexDisplacement.html

What a nice surprice!

Awesome 🔥😍 thanks

Hi, Thanks for the video! - You can the change resolution of the live viewer without modyfing the render settings . There is a field with the number 1 in the live viewer, just change this value to change the resolution. - you can desaturate an octane hdri : in the main tab of the Octane Sky click on the node icon, then you can add a color correction node to the hdri - for the displacement: there is two modes, if you want to use the same type of dispalcement as Redshift choose Type =Vertex displacement and add some Subdivision levels - blending mode : you have a huge list of blending mode in octane, for that you have to use the composite texture node, with this node you can combine multiple layers with masks or blending mode.

Thank you😍 still need to relearn Octane again

Vincent Schwenk

thanks for the video! 26:40 this is not the maxon noise. probably some OSL noise. the maxon noise is on the left menu all the way down with a black color label. it has all the controls like brightness and contrast as usual.

Dan

But not everybody have Gpu

Dariya Murashova

no one is using Arnold anymore 😂

Vincent Schwenk

Rho I've been waiting for a little tutorial on octane, If you made the same scene with redshift, it would be nice to be able to compare the two and see in term of light rendering etc

verhaeren

And what about Arnold render?)
