04 DESIGN - COLOR USER DATA

In this tutorial I am speaking about Color User Data. One of my favorite features in Redshift.

Here is my scene:

And again thanks for all the support. I am really excited with what you will come up with. Just tag me when you post something on Instagram.

Cheers

Awesome 👍

FYI: QuadRemesher 1.1.1 for C4D ist now compatiple with R23 (i tested and it works) + I checked the PythonCode of HoRope and changed it a bit so it works now in R23 also. (Tested and works ;) !) 'will post an how to + the code and stuff as soon as i have some time to do so (+also want to optimize some things)

Martin Köhler

Lets hope Qm gets an update to R23. I already wrote them a mail and asked … let's see … (will give here an update when they reply)

Martin Köhler

At first I was like, dammed I just bought the full version for the Quadremesher and now Cinema has something free. But it is not even close. Perhaps I can make a quick review about that.

Vincent Schwenk

;( Also Quadremesher won't work (at least for me). But do you think the new Remesh object directly in C4D can replace it adequately? First quick tests seems to be … hm … idk … maybe not really. Seems to give a (little) bit clunkier mesh.

Martin Köhler

Na it doesn't work, still so many plugins are missing. That's why I am still on 22

Vincent Schwenk

Seems HoRope does not work with R23. Or is it just me? Can someone approve?

Martin Köhler

Hey Boris, watch the newest tutorial ✌️

Vincent Schwenk

Hey, Vincent. Why are the colors of objects in Picture viewer and Redshift Render View different ? I used Color User Data

Supercat

I have exactly the same problem.. so annoying. I finally end up with a nice random result over all my objects in a null using the color user date tool with the geometry id and at this point my material is so complex and unorganized that it is a hell of a task to decipher it and break it down in different materials. and i hit render on the animation and ALL of the randomization is gone and all my objects now have the same material. @vincent do you have a quick tip before you get the chance to make another tut on this to make it more reliable by any chance?

Martin Hooke

second that! was also looking for it over here, but didn't find.

Martin Hooke

So one would have to save the render directly from the IPR to get the expected results? And animations are not possible? Too bad … but … ok …

Martin Köhler

It is the same for everyone. And I also have to say this sucks quite much. There are ways to use it clever (for example to randomly scale or offset your material) But I will record another tut, how to use Coloruser Data in a more production way.

Vincent Schwenk

Hi Vincent, thank you for that great tut. This will help a lot. But i have one problem: To keep it simple i put up a very simple scene (just a grit-clone with 9 cubes) and used the „color user data“ on that clone. Then i piped that note directly into the output. and what happens is: There is a color-shift between Redshift RenderView and the actual Render. For example when i start IPR and then press the button to the left (Render) it seems that the IDs totally switch places and the colors randomize in a differnt way. They are the same colors … but with different assignments. This „shuffle“ also happens, when i ad a new object or smth to my scene. Or just change the scenes hierarchy by fE put someting above my cloner. In Redshift RV everything keeps beeing normal, but the color-assignment in the renderview totally switch places again. It seems that there is another ID-System used in my renders.(?) Do you know (or someone here) how to fix that? (C4D R20, RS 2.6.51)

Martin Köhler

You are right this is a bit missleading. I mean the first and second tutorial of each month. Part one is always the animation part, part two is always the design part. (rendering and more)

Vincent Schwenk

Why are these all the second part of the tutorials? Where is the first?

Howard Phillips

They are turned on. Only the first red light is on, make them both red and they won't be seen in the render.

Vincent Schwenk

Hi! When I'm rendering it in Arnold, I'm seeing the bones coming through the ropes. How do I get smooth ropes without the bones sticking out?

Erkan Kaman

Loved this. Any chance you could share that UV layout image you were using in the video?

Sam Price

Could be that I said that wrong in the video😬

Vincent Schwenk

Oh my bad thought you mentioned you missed that feature in octane :S

ALiiEN

Yes I have missed that for a long time. I loved that on Octane.

Vincent Schwenk

Octane has that click to focus btw. I've been using it since v4 at least.
