I figured that Tarak probably wasn’t King’s father, but the reveal that they weren’t even the same species managed to take me by surprise. Tying the Trappers into the Collector was also a smart way to build on the character’s presence in the series as the endgame material approaches. The equine Titan from this episode also appeared during the Owl Beast flashback from “Knockin’ on Hooty’s Door”, when it was captured and bound to a scroll by the Collector. This whole situation is even more messed up considering the sizes of those Titan skulls. Considering how small they are, the previous generations of Titan Trappers must’ve killed and passed down the skulls of countless child and adolescent Titans.

2022-06-04 17:52:41 +0000 UTCAfter getting a few lower stakes episodes that focused more on the characters, this and “Hollow Mind” really went full tilt into lore and trauma. “Edge of the World” quickly establishes an effective sense of dread, with Luz freaking out and blaming herself for Belos’ rise to power (a character flaw that I might address more in future episodes), Eda breaking down as she struggles think of how she can protect her kids, and the sudden revelation that they only have one week until the Day of Unity arrives.
