I finally finished my exam! This episode is a little sad ㅜㅜ

Okay, I hate this episode. It's one of the ones where editing really just gets to me. I don't think K was trying to gossip behind anyone's back. The way I saw it was him trying to get input from someone who isn't within the representative team, so he wasn't just making a decision with nothing but his own thoughts in consideration. Getting Sunghoon's thoughts first and talking to Jay second isn't a bad thing, either, because if Sunghoon is steadfastly against it all then there's no reason to add a burden to Jay's mind. Sunghoon learning the part would be necessary if he replaces him, anyway. Does it suck for Jay? Yes, yes it does. Was K trying to lead in a way that benefits I-LAND? Also a resounding yes, and his views on the importance of that might be slightly different than the Koreans since he's Japanese; I'm sure that his understanding of Ni-ki's abilities was quite enough to make him fear every move might be a wrong one, too, because he knew his enemy (as it were) and wanted to be as prepared as they could be to meet the other team. Jay is also a great guy, and honestly he handled the whole ordeal far better than I probably would have. The fact that he was able to maintain his respect and friendship for K despite what happened speaks volumes about them both, and the same can be said for the fact that he maintains his relationship with Sunghoon and helps him learn the choreo. It's not hard to imagine someone in that position just withdrawing and saying the others can do the work, but Jay remains professional and does what he can to make sure they have the very best possible performance to put up against Ground. Hearing Nicholas sob is hurtful. He's such a beast (trust me, you'll find out eventually) that there's a total dichotomy between seeing him perform and seeing him cry. NI-KI is a beast too, if we get right down to it... he's an absolute monster at times (in the best possible way), and it's often hard for my brain to put his current 19yo image next to the 14yo we see in the show and remember that these are actually the same kid. Getting to see their origin stories and feel the camaraderie they exhibit is really why I even watch this show over and over again through reactions. Without the good interactions and without the presence of guys I've grown to love in their various groups, I seriously doubt I'd put up with the editing and the heartache that it inspires, lol. Part 2 starts with the 12 determined in Part 1, then winnows them down through elimination rounds until we get our final 7 who debut as Enhypen. Poor Kyungmin. If it helps at all, a teeny little spoiler is that our boy did great for himself. He not only did debut, but he's currently touring. Ahem, no spoilers as to whether that's with Enhypen, another group, or as a solo artist ;) In fact, of the original 23, I'm pretty sure there are only 3 who haven't debuted either with a group or as a solo artist (one of them just recently did a solo debut, actually)... 1 of those decided to pursue his acting career, but I'm not sure about the other 2. It was Youngbin who thought he wasn't good enough. He was 19 at the time of the show (20 in Korean age), and that's unfortunately "old" for a trainee, so he may very well believe that making it into the 12 is his last shot... of course, that's the same for more than a handful of these guys who can all reasonably feel that this is their last opportunity.

I agree with you. i'm not liking how K and Seon operate in this i-land as hyungs. Like K as dance leader, why it's not K that tell Sunghoon he wants Sunghoon to replace Jay, instead he use Seon for the dirty works. Also the way K said to Jay that Sunghoon practicing more than Jay definitely so mean, he could just told Jay he was thinking about changing him with Sunghoon because some parts, instead he gossiping again like when he did to Heesung at ep 2. i really hope they communicate it better. I admire Jay that he still love K dearly and support Sunghoon after all of that. If me i will be gone sleeping and not care about anything lol. You are so empathic that's so sweet. So sad for Grounder but I-lander did amazing, K really good at dancing and choreographing seriously. Also ni-ki, really sad his confident get destroyed, like i see a very confident and proud talented kid in episode 1, now i see small sad ni-ki, so sad. can people stop to burden 14 years old and step up instead to become the dance leader huhuhu. Seriously whoever divide the part is so cruel, poor kyungmin. Can't wait for your next episode reaction!
