Queendom Finale

Pumped for the end of queendom, who's taking the crown?

Queendom Finale

Gotta love their relationship, it's so freaking wholesome

For me the highlight of DESTINY is the ending, were the girls hold hands and surround Wheein…she was having such a hard time that it seems so important that they did that while singing “we’ve been together through thick and thin” like…NO ONE LOVES MAMAMOO MORE THAN MAMAMOO

Poli V.

Didn't shooting of idle get proven that she was innocent? I could almost bet it was about two weeks of that on soopin , hey I could be so wrong ....

Old man Jim

Been busy all through the week so just getting to this now, hope you're still recovering well mentally. I've thoroughly enjoyed getting to re-watch Queendom for the first time since it originally aired years ago, getting emotional all over again. Since you asked about it during the finale, I thought I'd do a "where are they now" summary based on my general knowledge of each group. I'm sure I'll miss a lot but this should cover the gist of it, this is probably going to be extremely lengthy so buckle-up! Mamamoo - Starting with the easiest one since you pretty much know the deal with them after going through their deep dive. Their comeback after Queendom ('Hip') became their most successful hit, and they've maintained a steady growth in popularity since the show aired. Oh My Girl - OMG also has had a lot of success after Queendom. They had a few hits before the show, but some releases after the show ended up going pretty viral and they saw a lot of growth. Hyojung has done some OST work and was an MC on some shows, she is also the creator of all the famous aegyo songs you see performed on Weekly Idol and earns a few bucks for those. She was also a guest along with RV's Seulgi on an episode of Moonbyul's camping show (on Moonbyul's YT channel). Mimi also got a lot of work in OSTs and MCing, as well as quite a few popular variety show appearances (even on some Netflix exclusive shows I've seen). Mimi was on 'The Second World', and she just opened up her YouTube channel in which she is showcasing her DJ skills. YooA has become a successful soloist with 2 mini-albums and another single album being released in a few days. She appeared for a collab on Road to Kingdom, and was also on the show Running Girls (fantastic show but will make you cry a lot as it shows each idol being very open and vulnerable as they discuss their feelings about themselves). Seunghee has become a meme known for her reactions and therefore appears on a lot of variety shows, and does MCing. She was in the news after a Korean rapper made a diss track of her after she told him she didn't have feelings for him, which he misinterpreted her feelings after she showed concern towards him and prevented him from ending his own life (it was a huge ordeal I'm forgetting the details of). She performed the famous OSTs of Frozen along with Solar (MMM) and Eunha (Gfriend) at the year end 2020 SBS Music Awards, Wendy (RV) was also supposed to join them but had her tragic accident just before it unfortunately and couldn't perform. Binnie (current stage name Yubin) is close friends with Dami (DC), Yuju (Gfriend) and a few other 97'liners. She started acting from a young age and continued to get a few acting gigs after Queendom. She also did a decent amount of variety content and MCing on radio shows. Arin became one of the most popular hosts of KBS Music Bank. She also landed some acting roles in Kdramas, one she was a lead role, another she was a very important character in Alchemy of Souls which became very popular (I actually just binged it a few weeks ago, it was fantastic). She did a special stage with Yeri (RV), Kei (Lovelyz), Umji (GFriend), Dahyun (Twice), and Yuqi ((G)I-DLE) at the KBS year end Music Awards just after Queendom. Jiho suffered from a lot of physical and mental health issues and went on multiple hiatuses both before and after Queendom. Because of this she was the only one in OMG that didn't renew her contract and left the group/company. She signed with a new company to become an actress instead. Before Queendom, she did a collab stage at the 2018 KBS Music Awards show with Joy (RV), Mijoo (Lovelyz), Sowon (GFriend), Tzuyu (Twice), and Yeonwoo (Momoland). Lovelyz - They unfortunately had a similar fate as Gfriend, and disbanded despite the members wanting to continue as a group (although they weren't quite as much of a shock as Gfriend's situation). They released one mini-album about a year after Queendom, aptly titled 'Unforgettable'. As they were preparing for their next comeback, they decided not to renew their contracts (with the exception of Baby Soul). It was said that they mostly had their next album ready but the company (Woolim) used that as leverage to try to get members to re-up on their contracts when some didn't want to (but still wanted to continue as a group). It was a very sad situation and they unfortunately became one of many 3rd gen groups to fall victim to the infamous 7 year curse. Baby Soul (now going by her real name Lee Sujeong) likely stayed with the company as she was their first trainee iirc and she's been with them for about 15yrs and debuted as a soloist in 2011 before joining Lovelyz in 2014. She released a solo mini-album last year re-debuting under her real name and has done a lot of OST work. Jiae I don't know too much about other than she did a bit of acting and some radio hosting, believe she even covered for Wendy on Youngstreet Radio when Wendy contracted COVID. Jisoo tried to become an actress and got a few small roles, ultimately it didn't really work out for her so she became a streamer instead. A few days ago she talked about a Lovelyz reunion concert, that the group all wanted to get together, but because everyone is busy and in different agencies now she said there was only a 5% chance of it actually happening (which I appreciate the honesty instead of leading fans on). Mijoo has become a variety mega star and is one of the most successful members post disbandment. She singed to Antenna and was taken under Yoo Jae Suk's wing (YJS is probably the most popular Korean entertainer atm), she's since won several entertainment awards at the year end shows. She also released a solo mini-album earlier in 2023. Kei has also been successful and busy. Besides her OST work, she did a few musicals as well, including a musical version of Death Note. There were unfounded dating rumors between her and her partner in the Death Note musical who was also the CEO of the label she signed to after leaving Woolim. It caused a lot of issues for her and made it awkward for them to continue working together, so she unfortunately left that label 9 months after signing. She joined the lineup for Queendom Puzzle, not gonna' spoil anything about that since you'll be watching it sometime down the road. Jin (now going by Park Jiwoo) has suffered from a lot of weird harassment over the years and she's always been pretty vocal about standing up to it. She released a solo song for her fans and held a fanmeet. She is mostly staying out of the spotlight and is just doing some YT content. Ryu Sujeong (you can see why Baby Soul didn't use her real name Lee Sujeong while in Lovelyz because they had another member with that name as well) debuted as a soloist under Woolim with a mini-album. After leaving Woolim, she created her own label and has since released a full-album and another mini-album as well as having put on a concert for her fans. Yeein signed with Sublime in 2022 and debuted as a soloist with a single. During her fanmeet, all the members (except Kei who was busy with the musical, but still video-called) of Lovelyz reunited post-disbandment, during which Yeein said she wrote a song that was supposed to be included in the ill-fated last album that was never released. Park Bom - Honestly feel really bad for her. She has dealt with a lot of unnecessary hate/criticism before Queendom. All sorts of nasty comments about her plastic surgery and weight gain. Quite a few years ago she got into trouble for accidently bringing her prescription medication (for her ADHD iirc) from the US into Korea where the drug was considered illegal there. People treated her like a drug addict/smuggler, it was horrific. She almost got into legal trouble for it but was cleared once she presented her prescription. Obviously netizens did their damage, and I think she has struggled mentally and emotionally ever since. You can tell she depends a lot on her members. In 2022, CL was invited to perform at Coachella and she brought all the 2NE1 members to also perform their song 'I AM THE BEST'. I never thought we'd see another 2NE1 performance, it was a like a miracle. You can see how happy Bom and the others were in the behind-the-scenes videos CL released on her channel, brought a tear to my eye. Bom also performed on King of the Masked Singer in 2020, which was kinda' funny because she has one of the most recognizable singing voices in all of Korea. She also has occasionally put out some OSTs and solo singles. I really hope the best for her future. AOA - Oh jeez, where do I even start. They had their one comeback after Queendom, but that's it. I suppose for a little context you should know that three members of AOA left before Queendom aired. Youkyung left after her contract expired in 2016. She was the drummer for AOA when they originally debuted with a band concept (yeah I bet that one surprised you lol). She is currently happy as a YouTuber who posts a lot of drum covers on her channel called '유즈드럼 You's Drum.' She has even done covers of Dreamcatcher's 'Deja Vu'/'Scream'/'Odd Eye', Red Velvet's 'Umpah Umpah'/'Zimzalabim'/'Psycho, Twice's 'What is Love'/'Yes or Yes'/'Feel Special'/'Get Loud'/'I Can't Stop Me'/'Cry For Me'/'The Feels', Stray Kids 'Back Door'/'Thunderous', and many many more if you wanna' check her out. Choa left AOA in 2017. She was a pretty popular member as the main vocalist, and she had some really great solo songs, but once she left people lashed out at her saying she was betraying the group, people even started rumors that she was leaving because she got pregnant. She basically dropped off the face of the Earth after leaving and everyone thought we'd never see her again. She finally returned to the public eye recently and has rejoined the entertainment industry as a soloist. A few months ago she stated that she left AOA because anything they did or achieved never felt enough, and the criticism was so constant that she felt it was pointless to continue striving. I think she was also uncomfortable and upset when they only started to get popular after switching to a sexy concept (when the two youngest members were 17/18yrs. old). The third member to leave was Mina in 2019, a few months before Queendom. I'm going to preface this by just saying there is going to be a lot of triggers for some people here. After leaving, she made a post on IG stating that she left after she was bullied for 10 years by Jimin while the other members just let it happen and that she considered taking her own life. This obviously became huge news and accusations were thrown all over the place and netizens started witch hunts against the other members. The situation dragged on for like over a year, it's almost impossible to summarize everything that happened. Turns out a lot of Mina's allegations weren't true, but she has suffered a lot of traumatic experiences in life, including being raped/assaulted in middle school (I believe they even arrested the culprit for that). She was constantly posting on social media, then deleting her posts. She posted some self-harm images, some of which were just pictures pulled off gore websites to try to scare Jimin. The members tried to help her at the beginning and even showed up to her house, with Jimin apologizing in person. After awhile they all kept their heads down about the situation as it was clear Mina was not right mentally. I believe she tried to take her life on two different occasions during that year but failed. She kept seeing different therapists but for some reason kept going back on social media after repeatedly deleting her accounts. It seems that Jimin was maybe not the best leader and insensitive at times at worst, but Mina perceived it as something much more and bundled it with all her past trauma. It was insane, scary, and incredibly heartbreaking to keep seeing news updates of her situation on Reddit at the time. It seems she has finally gotten' off social media for good and is resting. Jimin left AOA in 2022 because of all the accusations being thrown out. She has had a lot of her own past trauma. Years ago fans spoke out and worried about her health and extreme weight loss (she seriously looked dangerously thin), and the company just brushed it off saying she was healthy. After Queendom ended, her father passed away from a heart attack in early 2020. Then she went through the Mina situation in 2021/2022. She then stayed quite for over a year before finally coming back to the industry as a soloist with a heartfelt mini-album release. This was also when she went on 'The Second World', so keep that in mind as you watch. You can see she lost all her confidence as a person and performer and was trying to heal through that show. Yuna left AOA as well after the Mina situation. She has been an actress, as well as a pretty well known composer/writer under the pseudonym E.NA and is known for doing the backing vocals on Itzy's 'DALLA DALLA' and Twice's 'Heart Shaker'. She runs a YT channel with her sister (who is also an idol). She became a certified Yoga instructor after leaving AOA. Just last month she got married to a fellow music composer and seems to be doing quite well for herself. Seolhyun has continued being an actress, and usually donates about $50,000USD of her earnings every year to charities in need. She was in the news before Queendom for taking legal action against some sicko who posted photoshopped nudes of her online. I know she was close to Jimin and they have matching tattoos together. She remains as one of the three remaining AOA members at FNC, but it's not likely we will ever see them comeback even though they want to. In the mean time she is running her YT channel. Hyejeong has mostly been doing a lot of acting, and uploading videos with Chanmi as the other two remaining AOA members. Other than that I thinks she's been keeping low mostly. Chanmi (like Kei) will show up again for Queendom Puzzle under her new stage name Dohwa. I believe she changed it first for the survival show Girl's Re:Verse, stating that she wanted a fresh start after the Mina situation. You can tell she has always been very kindhearted, and is the member I feel bad for the most. She has always wanted AOA to succeed even to this day. In her early AOA days she had remembered a deaf fan and learned some sing language so that she could tell her deaf fan she was pretty at their next fanmeet. Chanmi legally changed her last name after her mother who raised her properly and helped her through her bout of depression instead of her dad that was abusive and absent. All-in-all, AOA's story is tragic and their future is still uncertain at this point. Last, but not least, we have (G)i-dle. They were already considered monster rookies before Queendom, but continued to gain popularity afterwards. That was up until Soojin's bullying scandal. I won't go too much into detail about that, but Soojin basically said she would leave the group if the accusations were true at all, and they sort of seemed to be so she shot herself in the foot with that one for some reason. (G)i-dle took a long hiatus as a group after that for about a year and a half. It was unclear if they would be able to recover and continue to be popular but their comeback 'Tomboy' was a viral hit and they've now been more successful than they've ever been. Several members are also huge in the variety scene. Before Queendom, the group was jokingly known as "Soyeon and friends" since she was so incredibly talented and overshadowed the others. The other members than gained a lot more confidence through Queendom and it's crazy how popular they all are now. Soojin even managed to come back into the scene after staying quiet for 2+ years, and had a decently successful solo debut. I could cover a looooot more about them but I know their deep dive will be coming up so I'll let you discover them more then. I apologize for how long this is, I didn't think I'd end up writing this much lol.

Kev-o

I always get emotional when the MC asks wheein if she is better now as she was suffering so much during this program

Ohoud Saleh

Destiny was a great choice. It is not a ballad but it does showcase the talented strong vocals that Mamamoo have. Plus the way they can always get the audience involved makes for a more powerful performance.

ChaoticGorilla

the Park Bom segment always hits hard. As a " BlackJack/ Moo" I have seen a lot of the difficulties she has been thru. it is comforting to know that 2ne1 members are still close and very supportive of each other.

ChaoticGorilla

mamamoo totally deserved to win that!!!! but i do agree that the dragging was frustrating🤡 they always have the dragging for almost every survival show
