If I had received a voicemail like that I'd be so torn. Is it just the alcohol and evening melancholy talking? People over time tend to exaggerate past relationships. In their minds, making them out to be far better (or far worse) than they actually were. Is she saying what she actually felt back then, or is she saying what she thinks she felt? Do I even believe her now? Does it matter? If I am doing more than fine, why would she open this wound all of a sudden? Is she expecting some sort of closure? Hoping for something more? After a confession like that I'd at least meet with her, check if she's doing alright, catch up a little bit. After that? Who knows. As a listener I thoroughly enjoyed it 😊 You're so good at making slice of life content it's scary. Personally, I would've loved it if it had a bit of magic sprinkled on top! Make the caller a catgirl or make the listener princess's former personal bodyguard friend. Without even changing the story much, you could give it some additional flair. But that's just my personal preference, I'm a sucker for fantasy slice of life. And if this particular story was made more fantastical it could've ruined how real and heart wrenching it felt.
