You're the only child of the governor of a small but ever bustling coastal port. Growing up, you were always closer than your father would have liked to the young scullery maid that was plucked off the street and brought to work in your manor thanks to the kind nature of the head housekeeper. You managed to keep her rebellious nature from rubbing off on you too much, mostly due to the mounting pressure from your family to uphold a proper, posh image. But you were always grateful for her company and more so, her encouragement to be yourself in the face of so many expectations. You grew apart somewhat as you both realized that your innocent friendship couldn't last into adulthood, not with the roles you each play in society. But you often find yourself daydreaming about the hours you spent playing pirates and other make-believe games. But surely that's all that those dreams could be: make believe. At least to you. Your friend seems to think otherwise, evident by her disappearing from your house one day only to come back months later, knocking at your window after your servants have prepared you for bed. And she's come with a request, maybe even a plea, offering a life you never thought could be a reality.
