Hello all! Have some 🧟‍♂️spooky stats👻! Only one particularly notable stat for this week’s film… 🎥 This week’s film gives us our 9th female-directed feature for the show, meaning just over 5% of properties reviewed have been directed by women! This is also the first movie from the 1980’s brought to us by a female director. Now, let’s talk about the Scare and Style categories! These stats don’t factor in next week’s episode, nor any “event” episodes where they pick a film to watch. 🧛‍♂️ The most common scare rolled is Vampire, at nine rolls! That means around 5% of this podcast has been dedicated to the creatures of the night! All but two of these feature Vampyr Queen Symphony Sanders as a guest star: The Hunger (14) which featured Jasika Nicole, and Dark Shadows (144). In second place is Zombies at eight rolls, then a three-way tie for third between Alien, Technology, and Ghost with 7 rolls each. Across 184 episodes there have been 72 unique scares, 32 of which have only appeared once. 🎬 Two styles tie for first at six features each: Black & White and Sequel++! Interestingly, half or more of each of these come from two decades alone, the 1950’s and the 1990’s respectively. Also, films with the Black and White style have a significantly higher average IMDb score than the podcast’s overall average, with a 7.1 vs. a 6.6. Second place is a four-way tie between Anthology, First Three Episodes/Television, Found Footage and Wildcard, each appearing five times. Third is a five-way tie at four rolls each: 1990’s, A-Horror, Based on a Book, Bitchin’ Soundtrack and Female Director. As you may have guessed, Style has featured more variety than Scare, at 86 unique styles. Just under half of these have only appeared once, at 41. 🌀 Finally, some weird little quirks! Three things have appeared as both Scares and Styles: Creepy Children (4/1 Scare/Style respectively), A-Horror (1/4) and Revenge (2/1). Also, there is precisely one style that has only ever been paired with the same scare: Euro Horror, which has only ever been paired with Zombies (119, 158). Barring the additional randomness of these categories being on the dice at the same time, the odds of this happening are 0.08%!! (If I did my math right lol) And them’s some stats! Still working on lots of other stats like numbers rolled most frequently for each dice and other neat stuff. I hope someone out there is enjoying these, but I’ll continue to post them one way or another because I’m a weirdo who works on Excel spreadsheets in my free time.
