The Daily Grind - Chapter 346

Comments

Okay, now I want to see James and Sarah body swap, and see how long it takes for anyone not close to them to tell

Katieclysm

if you want to give James the secret technique: let me suggest looking up "Ralph Thorn No Spin Knife Throw" on youtube and watching the four-part ripped-from-DVD tutorial. There's a ton of no-spin throwing videos, but that was the original and it's got this great mix of "I dressed up for this, in my best black velvet shirt and leather pants" and "I'm some guy living in the backwoods chucking pieces of metal at things" that I think James would appreciate. anyway, his technique works (I learned it, fifteen years ago, just watching these), you can stick any sharp thing as hard and far as you can throw, no judging spins (unless you've really got an arm and need the long distance half-rotation). It's easier with unbalanced knives! The only downside is that it doesn't look as cool, which is why it's never made it in the movies.

Donna the Camracdona!

I think the first one is a typo - given its position between two "doesn't" clauses, it should probably be " *doesn't* give special exemption ".

That’s such a weird thing to think about. When i started this “book” (an obviously silly term at this point) my goal was to try to keep it consistent and not need to take breaks every other week, and that was kind of it. Now having made it almost a whole year with only, what, two break weeks? It’s a strange feeing.

I just realized we're only 10 chapters away from this being a full "year" of the daily grind. That's wild. I'm delighted the story has come so far and grown so much.

Probably just one of those shadow kitchens that focused on delivery that's stumbled into catering to the order. Or someone from the order. Or something magical that feeds them pizza, which would be pretty cool.

Monty

I wonder what the ratroach Friend was named and if it rhymed with Ben & Quinn. Midnight Pizza has me slightly concerned, too much weird in a throwaway line for me not to glom onto and Consider the Implications. > I was typing something here about double dungeons (Saskatoon and Utah) before I remembered that the original Office and Sewer are colocated enough to be the double for *mumble*ton Oregon. They ought to start looking much closelier around Townton though. I really appreciate these anthology chapters for giving us a view of the Order working at scale. They started as the (maybe memetically enforced) crew of 3 in their apartment debating how best do good, and now they can take in and care for multiple separate groups of refugees at once without blinking.

Russell

I think there is an inconsistency with what was stated about the room antimeme thing. "Does give special exemption to whoever places it." Is stated about it by Nik, but later Nate seemingly asks to clarify "So only the person who places it can see the room?” and is told no by Nik.
