They are still toxic, they still create poisons on the scales of their wings, but these poisons aren't always necessarily dangerous. They're temporary paralysis toxins, meaning they'll cause a human to stiffen up, and wear off after a while. They're actually one of the ingredients reverse engineered to create paralyze heal potions.
That being said, they aren't to be taken lightly either. A Venomoth can be attracted the same way a Venonat can, a light in the darkness in their habitat, but the actions taken have to be more careful. Food is always a reliable option to get your foot in the door, but once it sees a human as a mate, it depends on the Venomoth's preference of how things go from there.
A dominant or untrusting Venomoth can and will attempt to paralyze their potential mate. Seeing how there are a number of bug types that can cause harm to their mates of other species, we assume this is a trait that protects the Venomoth, rather than encouraging sexual aggression. Especially since we haven't recorded this behavior in any specimens that are not certain that they're receiving an offer to mate.
Regardless, if you prefer giving up control freely, then you need not prepare, but otherwise, bring anything that will prevent paralysis and poisoning, such as Cherris or Pechas.
