Ninetales was, as our researchers found, quite accurate to their portrayal in legend. If you don't bond with one for quite a long time, it will more than likely have a dominant attitude towards anything it sees as a mate. For most Ninetales that exist, they were born within the last few generations in human terms. For those that are more reclusive in the wild, however, their age can easily be dated hundreds of years prior, although their numbers dwindle. That much was known just from the research of the regular Pokedex. However, it would seem that humans taking an interest in breeding, as well as the increase in wild Vulpix, led to more and more Ninetales in the wild, as well as more innate comfort with humans. Where a five hundred year old Ninetales may immediately curse a human for even looking at their tails, a younger one may even allow a human to pet them, so long as the human clearly shows good will. However, it is important to note that the reason they consider their tails so important, is because there are incredibly sensitive nerve endings all throughout each one. Touching a tail may as well be the equivalent to directly touching their genitalia. Fortunately for the SDex specifically, the few that were found willing to be touched in such a way allowed our researchers to repay them for the kindness, by servicing them appropriately. Some wanted their paws cleaned, some wanted their fur brushed, while others had much, much more intimate plans. Of course, that led to exhaustion for our researchers. So many decades of experience being on top meant that there wasn't much choice besides taking it until they completely passed out. By the time they awoke, the Ninetales were gone, but the researchers themselves felt, in their words: "a bit more fortunate.”
